Our last sketch of the month is up at Sketch N Scrap and it is card sketch by me:

Here is the card I created with it:

Happy World Card Making Day!

Happy World Card Making Day friends!  I hope you will find lots of time to make some wonderful cards today, and maybe get started on those Christmas cards!  That is my plan for later tonight is to design my two Christmas cards I hope to send out this year (notice I said "hope" lol!), last year I didn't get Christmas cards sent out but I did get "New Year" cards sent, so better late then never right?  I am making a concerted effort this year to send out handmade cards to all my peeps, but to do so I am going to have to start now!  Sketch N Scrap is having a whole month long celebration to celebrate World Card Making Day and today Senior Design Team Member Kerry is kicking off the first challenge!  Kerry has challenged us to create a masculine themed card!  No small feat for me but I was happy to play along as I can always use good masculine cards in my stash!  Here is my card designed for this challenge:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Stampin Up; Patterned Paper: Stampin Up; Ink: Stampin Up;
Sentiment stamp: Stampin Up; punches: Stampin Up (star & chevron); enamel dots: Stampin Up.

Sketch N Scrap #66

Welcome to October!  I'm so excited for Fall! I just hope it's not 90 degrees the day we have planned to go to the pumpkin patch!  I can't wait to feel the cool crisp Fall air.  I've already decorated my house for Fall, and that has made me at least "feel" cooler even if it is still 90+ degrees out today! So today is reveal day for our first sketch of the month at Sketch N Scrap!  Here is my sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Supplies Used:  Pattern Paper: Jillibean Soup, washi tape: Queen & Co; card stock: Stampin
Up; die cuts: Jillibean Soup and My Mind's Eye; bling: Queen & Co; ticket: Jenni Bowlin

I had fun making this layout for a good friend using pictures I took a few years back of her and her daughter at an amusement park we took the kids to (ok, I know it took me a while to scrap these but hey, better late then never!)  I loved the bright colors in the pictures and felt that this fun line by Jillibean Soup really captured the colors well.  I know you will love what the DT did with this sketch!  I hope you find time to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap this month, we are celebrating World Card Making Day all month long with four extra challenges this month PLUS we have an awesome sponsor- Scraptures Kit Club!!  You won't want to miss out on all the fun, you can read all about it HERE!  You have until October 31st at 7 pm CST to link up your entries!  Enjoy your Fall friends!

Two fun sketches!

Wow, I can't believe it is August already!  Summer is almost over, the marching band started camp yesterday so that means school will be starting shortly (heck it feels like it is already started!) I have been busy in my craft room creating and I know that these first two sketches of August will give you some incentive to find a little bit of time this week to spend in your craft room too!
Here is the first sketch #62 by me:

And here is my layout based on the sketch:
Supplies Used:  Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee, Echo Park, cardstock: Stampin Up; Stickers: Happy
Camper by Echo Park, journal spot sticker by KI Memories; washi tape: Queen & Co.; letters: Jillibean Soup

Here is the second sketch by Kelly, co-owner of Sketch N Scrap:

Here is my card based on the sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Stampin Up whisper white; washi tape: Queen & Co; Card:
Simple Stories Homespun collection; letter stickers and patterned paper: Simple Stories
Homespun Collection; ink: real red by Stampin Up; word stamp (friend) Stampin Up

I love the way both my layout and card turned out using these sketches!  I will say this is one of the fastest cards I have made in awhile! I love using up my Project Life type cards that come with so many collections on cards as I often use up all the paper before the cards so I just have them sitting around in my scraps drawer, I plan to dig through my drawer and finish off my Homespun collection (all that is left really is some of these cards and maybe a few scraps!!!) this weekend by replicating this card with the different cards I have left in my scrap drawer! Good luck getting some crafty time this week friends and make sure and share your creations with us at Sketch N Scrap to be eligible for our randomly drawn August prize which is a $20 gift certificate to Scrapbook.com sponsored by our one and only Lissa Mitchell at:
Mightycrafty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You + Dirt = 1 Happy Boy!

I was so happy to finally eek out some time this month to play along with the Scrappy Friends' challenges this month!  I'm so happy with how this layout turned out:
Supplies Used:  cardstock: Stampin Up; patterned paper: Lawn Fawn Hello
Sunshine, Bella Blvd Snapshots; alphas: Doodlebug; washi tape: Queen &
Co; stickers: hexagon- Jenni Bowlin & flag- MME; flair: Lawn Fawn; frame
Elle's Studio; date tag: Elle's Studio
These fun pictures of my nephew are from way back in 2009, I still have a lot of older photos to catch up on and these were ones I for sure wanted to get into his scrapbook so I could tell the story of how he always wore his shirts backward and his boots on the wrong feet, he just liked to do it that way! lol!  Luckily he doesn't do it anymore, but it was just so him and so adorable!  Love that boy!
I used the word "Happy" in my title for Kelly's word challenge.  For Rochelle's Tic Tac Toe challenge I used the right outer boxes: hexagon, flair, and Polaroid.
Here is Brenda's wonderful sketch that the layout is based on:
Make sure and stop by each of these wonderful blogs to see what everyone has created, I know it will inspire you!

Baked with Love!

Good morning!  I have my last post as a member of the Frosted Designs team up on the blog today. I have certainly enjoyed my time there but as they say all good things must come to an end! Here is the layout I made using the ever so versatile Simple Stories line Homespun!   This line is so versatile, you can use it for about any type of occasion!  From Spring to Summer to just every day moments!  It also has a baking or cooking theme to it, perfect for these photos:

I have been trying to use up a lot of the 3 x 4 and 4 x 6 cards that many collections come with and sometimes it is hard to know exactly what to do with them.  I have found that they are great go to embellishments, they are simple, inexpensive and they can really dress up your pages!  Here I embellished the "made with love" card by adding the "family recipes" sticker over the top of the apron.  I added pop dots under the sticker to give the card some dimension and used the card as a pocket for a family recipe.  Here is a close up:

These pictures of my friend's daughter with her late grandmother will be a treasured keepsake for her album for years to come!  How wonderful to have this family recipe preserved! The only thing that would have made it better would have been had the late grandmother written the recipe down in her own handwriting. Just something to keep in mind next time you pass along a recipe, remember generations to come will cherish your hand writing no matter how "plain" or not attractive you think it is!  I also as you can see here used a pre-made border that came in the collection, so to dress it up and give it a bit of dimension I added gems and pearls to the center of the flowers!  Using embellishments you have in your stash to dress up the pre-made borders or cards is a great way to not only use up your stash but add dimension to your layouts quickly and easily!   Make sure and  hop on over to the Frosted Designs store and check out all the fun goodies, including the new Heidi Swapp line Hello Today arriving soon!  Happy crafting!

Enabler alert!

The new Frosted Designs kit  Capture the Moment is here!  It is packed full of scrappy goodness!
The unique thing about the Frosted Designs kit is that they have a "messy" option and a "clean" option for the SAME price!  There is even an option to get both if you can't decide!  If you are just a basic clean scrapper as I am you would most likely pick the "clean" option but if you like to "mess" around with inks, mists, masking and other mixed media products then the "messy" option is for you!  Check it out HERE and make sure and tell Barb Lisa sent you!
