Stash Bashing

For a few years now I have been working on bashing my stash and not buying as much, each year I get more successful and find new ways of organizing my stash to help me use it.  I feel that this year has been my best to date!! I have joined a challenge group on Facebook called Bash your Scrapbook Stash and they are having a Super Bash Bowl challenge  this month that I have been participating in.  Basically every week we are given a challenge that is worth 7 points if you complete all the items for the challenge.  Each item has a point value assigned to it, so you can chose to do all of the challenge items to get the full 7 points or just a few of them but you will get less points.   I have made 2 layouts so far for this challenge, my goal is to do 4 and since the challenge ends Saturday I had better get a move on 😊  Today I thought I would share my first 2 layouts with you.
Layout number one: (challenge items: sketch, die cuts, journaling, twine, patterned paper)
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: KI Memories (circle), Crate Paper &Simple Stories; cardstock: CTMH; dies: Lawn Fawn (snowflakes); ephemera: Simple Stories Freezin' Season; stickers: Simple Stories Freezin' Season, letter stickers; American Craft Thickers; journal box: Elle's Studio; enamel dots: My Mind's Eye.

Layout number two: (Challenge items: sketch, washi, phrase, travel, ephemera)
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Echo Park & Simple Stories Travel notes; emphemera: Simple Stories Travel Notes; stickers: Simple Stories Travel Notes; enamel dots: My Mind's Eye; Letter Stickers: Cosmo Cricket & American Crafts Thickers
I sure was able to bash a lot of older stash on these 2 layouts, that KI Memories stitched scallop circle paper is at least 12 years OLD!! I loved it then and still really liked it just never knew what to use it for and since the sketch in challenge #1 called for a circle I felt it was a great time to use it!! I also used up the scraps from my June Flavors of the Month kit at The Scraproom.  I am down to very little left from this June line and hope to create 2 more cards to completely finish it off.  I hope to be back this weekend to share the other 2 layouts I plan to create for this challenge so stay tuned!  If you are interested in bashing some stash you may want to check out this fun group, they have some amazing challenges to help you get motivated to use your stash!  Happy creating!

Card sketch #139

Hello!!  Today I am so excited to share a fun card I made using the February 5th card sketch over at Sketch N Scrap!  I made another Valentine's Day card as the big day is almost here!  I don't give out many Valentine's Day cards so I tend to wait until the last minute to make them!
Here is the sketch:

Here is my card using the sketch:
Supplies Used: card base: CTMH; patterned paper: Pink Paislee Cupid & Echo Park Head over Heels; ephemera: Pink Paislee Cupid; enamel heart: Crate Paper Smooches; gems: Queen & Co.
I used up a BUNCH old stuff on this card! These were all scraps I had lying on my desk that needed used before the month end or I will recycle them! So glad this sketch is a great one to use up some scraps! The enamel heart and the ephemera sentiment were both in my BASHKET so 2 more items used for February! Yay!!  If you haven't heard of my BASHKET, it is a basket I have with old stash that I want to use up each month.  I usually put 10-15 items in it each month and those I don't use I either donate or toss (I know don't pass out!) but so far so good on using them up each month in 2019! Most of the things in this basket don't have matching paper or the paper is down to scraps so I try to find a new line to match them with! Make sure and hop over to the Sketch N Scrap blog so you can see all the amazing cards the DT made using this sketch!  We hope you will join us and try your hand at this sketch, you have until February 28th at 9:55 pm CST to enter your projects!  Happy creating!

Supplies Used: card base: CTMH; patterned paper: Simple Stories Kissing Booth; ephemera: Crate Paper La La Love (sentiment and large heart) and Simple Stories Kissing Booth (flower).

Echo Park Let's Party~ February Flavors of the Month kit

Happy Hump Day!  I'm so excited to share another layout using the February Flavors of the month kit from The ScrapRoom!  Here is a reminder of the kit:

The Echo Park Let's Party part of the kit:

Here is my layout using the kit:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: white- from the kit; Patterned Paper: Echo Park Let's Party- from the kit; ephemera: Echo Park Let's Party - from the kit; stickers: Echo Park Let's Party- from the embellishment kit; enamel dots: from the kit; letter stickers (yellow) Elle's Studio- from my stash.
I love this picture of my niece celebrating her birthday at Golden Corral in 2014.  She basically wanted to only eat desserts for her dinner, and she did!  The funny story behind this picture is the manager went and made  up this special piece of cake for her when he found out it was her birthday.  My brother-in-law who took this picture was behind my Mom getting ready to take the picture and my Mom said "Smile for the gentleman" and we all wondered why in the world she was saying that....well turns out, she thought the manager was still there attempting to take the picture instead of my brother in law!  You probably had to be there but we all laughed because my Mom had mistaken my brother in law for the manager!  We kept asking her why in the world the manager would take my niece's picture (plus they looked nothing alike!)  To this day we always tell my niece to "smile for the gentleman" when we take her picture!  This line is perfect for your birthday or celebration photos!! I LOVE the sticker sheet found in the embellishment kit, it has so many fun stickers, it is a MUST have!!  Here is a look at the amazing embellishment kit:

Make sure and head over to the ScrapRoom blog to see what the other DT members did with this fun collection!  Happy creating!

Sketch N Scrap #170

Happy February!!  Are you ready for the new month?  I feel like January just flew by and while I accomplished a lot it wasn't as much as I would have liked to, so I am looking forward to a reset this month hoping to get 'r done!! 😃  Today I am sharing the newest sketch up at Sketch N Scrap.  I created this sketch and really had fun working with it, I don't do a lot of one photo sketches but I have a few single photos I needed to scrap so decided to make one for this month.  Here is the sketch:

Here is my layout using the sketch:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: CTMH Grateful Heart, Carta Bella Our House, and CTMH Documented; title: Jillibean Soup You Make Miso Happy; dies: CTMH heart thin cuts; border stickers: Carta Bella Our House; sequins: CTMH; journal card: unknown source; wood veneer: Elle's Studio Live Laugh & Love; letter stickers (my family): Paper Trunk
I  am trying to stick with new revised system of using up kits as I get them as well as older stash I have designated for the quarter.  Here I was able to use up the remaining pieces of my Carta Bella Our House kit from the February ScrapRoom kit, I am now just down to one medium scrap and 1/2 sheet of stickers which are all baking related so I need to find a way to use those soon!  I hope you will find time to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap this month, you have until February 28th at 9:55 pm CST to play along on the blog!  Make sure and stop by and check out what the other DT members did with the sketch!! Happy creating!
