Game Show Challenge fun at Cookin' Up Creations!!

Good morning friends!  Happy Monday!  Today it's my turn to host the last challenge for August at Cookin' Up Creations!  August is Game Show Month at Cookin' Up Creations and all the challenges are based on classic game shows! Today's challenge based on the game show Family Feud!  Family Feud is such an iconic game show and has run for a total of 2,311 episodes so far!  WOW!  Today my challenge is to create a layout about a family tradition using this fun Becky Fleck sketch:

Here is my layout based on the sketch and the Family Feud Challenge:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Hip Kit Club & Pink Fresh Studios; cardstock: Bo Bunny Swiss Dot White; punch: Stampin' Up notebook edger; frame & doily: Unknown source; chipboard: Made with Love- Scenic Route; stars: Pink Paislee; stickers: gingerbread lady- Doodlebug Designs & Mouse- Hip Kit Club; ephemera: holly swag- Hip Kit Club

My niece and I love to have host a fun dinner on Christmas Eve after our church service.  Every year she plans a fun snack to "create".  This picture is from 2017 and that year she created a fun Christmas tree using grapes, strawberries, a celery stick and a star cut out with a star cookie cutter from a piece of cheese!!  Each year we have so much fun planning what she will do.  Last year it was a hot cocoa bar and she made snowmen out of marshmallows and candy canes for us to dunk in our hot cocoa!!  We have so much fun planning and looking on Pinterest for ideas!  This is a fun tradition we started back in 2015 and I hope we will carry through for years to come!!  Make sure and head on over to the forum at Cookin' Up Creations to join in the fun, we would love to see your favorite family traditions!

Sketch N Scrap #207

Happy Hump Day!  Today I am sharing my layout I created with the amazing August 15th sketch at Sketch N Scrap created by the great Stacy Daubenberger!!
 Here is her amazing sketch:

Here is my layout created with this amazing sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Kraft; Patterned Paper: Vicki Boutin Kaleidoscope and Wildflowers & Honey; stickers: Vicki Boutine Kaleidoscope; ephemera: Vicki Boutin Wildflowers & Honey; tag: unknow source; butterfly punch- Martha Stewart; butterfly Die: Stampin' Up; gems: Queen & Co; Letter Stickers: American Craft Thickers

I had so much fun with this sketch! I adapted the sketch to fit the one picture I had of my friend's granddaughter at the zoo!  I thought these papers were perfect for this picture and I love how the ephemera and stickers add to the layout to make the picture pop off the page!  There is still plenty of time to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap!  You have until August 31st at 9:55 pm CST to link up  your projects!!  Happy creating!

Cookin' Up Creations ~ Name That Tune!

I'm back with another fun challenge for you today!  Today I am hosting the Game Show Challenge of the Day at Cookin' Up Creations!! For the month of August we are basing all the challenges on various game shows!! Today I have selected the game show: "Name That Tune".  Did you know Name That Tune started way back in 1952?  It was a long running show that last aired in 1985 Wow!!  I used to love watching this show when I was younger, but I must admit I rarely could "Name That Tune"!!!  For my challenge you must create a layout that uses a song title as your layout title!! Easy peasy!! The hardest part was selecting which song I wanted to use!!   Here is my layout I created for this challenge:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: CTMH Craft On (background); Bella Blvd Island Escape (Pink raindrops); PhotoPlay Paper Let's Stay Home (Yellow stripe); Echo Park I Love Spring (pink flower & yellow/white stripe- banner); CTMH I Heart Us (purple & pink striped strip at top), Echo Park It's Your Birthday (Pink banner strip); Cardstock: Bo Bunny Swiss Dot; stickers: Echo Park Teen Spirit Girl; clouds: Bella Blvd- fussy cut from paper

When I was going through my stickers on one of my stash reorganization gigs I noticed that the quote was "Girls Can Change the World" which was funny since it is a song my niece loves!!  When we get crafty together we always play music and she loves to share her favorite songs with me, many of them I'm not to excited to listen to as I don't care for them, but this one has a catchy tune and the lyrics I found were positive and uplifting!  Here is my favorite verse from the song:
"I think it's time that
We turn some things around
We gotta stop trying
To tear each other down
If we shine
If we share the love we found
Girls can change the world"
Girls Can Change the World by PureNG
When deciding on my layout for this challenge I had a two fold goal in mind: to use up a kit I had made from scraps of older The ScrapRoom kits and to make a fun layout for my Name That Tune challenge using this sticker "Girls Can Change the World" which was the song I selected!  I decided I wanted to use a lot of fun girl stickers on my layout so I chose a grid style layout so I could do so!  I love how it turned out, the fun word strips and the unicorn are so fun and girly and then I also included a treble clef by my title to represent the song title!!  I hope you will find time to play along with us at Cookin' Up Creations this month.  Make sure and hop on over to the forum to see what songs people are using for their titles!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!!  Happy creating!

Kill a kit ~ August edition!!!

Happy Friday!!  Today I am sharing my newest challenge I am hosting over at The ScrapRoom Facebook Group!  I have been on the DT at The ScrapRoom since 2017 and have as a result accumulated a lot of kits!  I have enjoyed each and every one of them! They are filled with the latest and greatest scrappy supplies!  Each month I end up with a few left overs and usually I just put them in a drawer and move on to the next kit...BUT....now my drawer is FULL!!! Yikes!  So I decided to host a challenge each month at The ScrapRoom to encourage other ladies in the same position as myself to "kill" a kit each month!!  So here is my kit I am going to "kill" in August:
Kits included in this kit: July 2020 PhotoPlay Just Stay Home; August 2019 Echo Park Teen Spirit Girl; February 2002 Echo Park It's Your Birthday; March 2020 Echo Park I Love Spring; October 2019 Amy Tangerine Slice of Life; and May 2019 American Crafts Sparkle City!!

Here are the projects I have created so far using this kit:
Layout created using the August Kill a Kit- from details see my post HERE

Cards using the August Kill A Kit

This card was created using the August 5th sketch at Sketch N Scrap:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Whisper White- Stampin' Up; Patterned Paper: Echo Park It's Your Birthday; journal card: American Crafts She's Magic; sticker: Echo Park Teen Spirit Girl; stamps: CTMH Birthday Time; Ink: Stampin' Up Strawberry Slush

Supplies Used: Cardstock: Stampin' Up Whisper White; Patterned Paper: PhotoPlay Just Stay Home & Echo Park I love Spring (flowers); sticker (bike): Echo Park Teen Spirit Girl; stamp: CTMH Life is a A Journey; ink: Stampin' Up Tempting Turquoise

Supplies Used: Carstock: Stampin' Up Whisper White; Patterned Paper: Echo Park Teen Spirit Girl & PhotoPlay Let's Stay Home; Ink: Stampin' Up Tempting Turquoise; stamp: CTMH BIrthday Greetings; sticker (cupcake): Echo Park Teen Spirit Girl

Supplies Used: cardstock: Stampin' Up Whisper White; Patterned Paper: PhotoPlay Let's Stay Home (yellow stripe), My Mind's Eye (blue circle) & Echo Park I love Spring (flowers); sticker (telephone): Echo Park Teen Spirit Girl, ink: Stampin' Up Tempting Turquoise; stamp: CTMH Random Acts of Cardness; die: Stampin' Up stitched circle

I have not even used up all the kit yet, it is really yielding a lot of projects! I think I can get another layout and a few more cards out of what I have left so stay tuned to see the end of the kit by the end of this month!!  This just goes to show how well all The ScrapRoom kits combine together even those that are a year or more apart!!  I love the bright color palette of these cards/layout and I was also able to ink up a few stamps I had never used!  I think this is going to be a great challenge to keep the scrap pile under control!  I am already thinking of what kits I can use for next month!  Make sure and join us in The ScrapRoom Facebook Group to play along and to see what the other gals did with their kits!  Happy creating!

August Freaky Fast Friday Challenge!

Happy Friday!  Today I am sharing an adorable layout I created using the August Freaky Fast Friday Formula and the Doodlebug Designs collection called Bar-B- Cute!  I always love Doodlebug Collections but this one is just super fun and adorable!  Here is a reminder of the full  August Flavors of the Month kit:

Here is the Doodlebug Designs Bar-B-Cute collection I used for today's layout:
Here is August's Freaky Fast Friday Formula my layout is based on:

Here is my layout using the Doodlebug Designs Bar-B-Cute mini kit & Friday's Freaky Fast Forumla:
Supplies Used: cardstock: White-from the kit; Patterned Paper: Doodlebug Designs Bar-B-Cute- from the kit; ephemera: Doodlebug Designs Bar-B-Cute- from the kit: Doodle Pops (ketchup bottle)- Doodlebug Designs Bar-B-Cute - from the embellishment kit; doily: Doodlebug Designs- from the kit; letter stickers: American Crafts Thickers- from my stash; die: Stampin' Up Stitched Circle- from my stash.

This formula was so fun!  At first I was intimidated because of the large number of pieces!! But once I cut them all and started moving them around on my cardstock it went together very quickly!  I added the doily which I thought gave my embellishment cluster a nice touch. To draw in another circle I and get a hamburger for an embellishment, since the pictures are about fries and hamburgers I fussy cut the hamburger from one of the cut apart cards on the B side of one of the papers and added it to a die cut cardstock circle!  I think this kit is just so fun and perfect for those pictures we all have of our kids as messy eaters!!  My niece was so adorable with her ketchup/fries and hamburgers don't you think?  She is older now and does not even like hamburgers so that makes these photos even more precious!  Make sure and head on over to The ScrapRoom blog to see what other layouts the DT came up with using the fun mini kit and this fun Freaky Fast Formula for August!  Happy creating!

TN Time with Lisa & Lori ~ August Edition

Happy Monday!  It's time to kick off the next edition of TN Time with Lisa & Lori!! I am super excited about the challenge this month, I had a lot of fun creating this month's spread!  So let's get this party started!!

HERE IS HOW OUR CHALLENGE WORKS: This is a monthly challenge that launches on the 10th of each month  You will have until the 9th at midnight CST to link up your entries. If you complete my sketch challenge link your TN, bullet journal or planner spread below. If you combined my challenge with Lori's challenge link up your spread here on my blog AND on Lori's Blog (My Happy Life).  You will then have a chance to win my prize as well as Lori's prize!  That's a chance to win TWO times with ONE layout! WOW!

Now for my challenge!! Here is this month's sketch:

Now for Lori's fun challenge (August 10th - September 9th):
So break out those patterned papers and let's see how many patterns you can use on one spread!!!  Have fun with it ladies!
Here is my layout using both the sketch and Lori's challenge to use at least 3 different patterned papers: I used EIGHT patterned papers on my layout! I was able to use up a few scraps on this spread and was happy to see how well all the patterns coordinated since I used a variety of different manufacturers!
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee Auburn Lane(pink stripe), CTMH Boutique (green words and small floral strip), One Canoe 2 Willow (pink, doily paper and plum), Pink Paislee Indigo & Ivy (green under picture) & My Mind's Eye Sweetest Thing (white strip); Letter stickers: Scenic Route; butterflies: Maggie Holmes Sweet Story (green) & One Canoe Two; word strips: Crate Paper Willow and One Canoe Two; enamel dot: My Mind's Eye; punch- Stampin' Up notebook edger; die: unknown source

Here are a few close ups:

I thought the punched edge was a nice touch with the super cute butterfly!  I am loving these Sweet Story butterflies, so glad I was gifted them! The doily is so pretty and I wish I had more, this one is from my friend Kammi, I will have to check with her to see where she got this die as I love it!  It gives a nice subtle touch that I felt this layout called for, I tried using a tab as called for in the sketch but that seemed to look to harsh and I didn't like it on my layout!

I loved this ephemera piece from Maggie Holmes Sweet Story that I was gifted back in April and have been hoarding ever since!  Time to use it up!  I didn't really have any of the Sweet Story papers but the CTMH Boutique, Pink Paislee Auburn Lane and One Canoe Two Willow lines go beautifully with it! So glad since for those lines I don't have many embellishments!  I was really running out of things to document in my TN since during the pandemic I haven't been able to do the things I had planned for this Summer, all my travel plans got canceled, all the retreats I had signed up for were canceled and no one wants to get together which I totally understand so it's just me here in my little ole' house by myself trying to find things to keep me busy, so I decided to document a few of those and one of the biggest was trying my hand at some redecorating!

School Rules ~ August Flavors of the Month kit!

Good morning!! Happy weekend! Today I am stopping by to share another layout I created using the August Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom!
Here is a reminder of the kit:

Here is the Echo Park School Rules collection I used on today's layout:

Here is my layout created with this fun kit:
Supplies Used: cardstock: black- from the kit; Patterned Paper: Echo Park School Rules - from the kit; wood veneer apples- from the kit; ephemera: Echo Park School Rules- from the kit; white pen: SIgno - from my stash; letter stickers: Doodlebug Designs- from my stash

I love how this layout turned out! I have been saving this picture to scrap for a long while!  This is a great picture of my nephew and his favorite teacher and I love it!  Of course, it needed to be scrapped so that he can always remember one of his all time favorite teachers!  I knew when I saw this collection I just had to use it to scrap this photo!  My favorite part of this layout is the mini chalkboard I created by using one of the frames from the ephemera included in the kit and backing it with black cardstock and then using my white gel pen to write an "A+" and outline the cardstock.  I thought it added a nice touch to my layout!  The Apple flash card was fussy cut from one of the papers in the kit, I just loved both sides of this paper (hate it when that happens!) and these flash cards are so fun and make great embellishments!!  I hope you are inspired by my layout.  Make sure and head on over to The ScrapRoom blog to see what the DT has created with this fun kit!  Happy creating!

Card Sketch #175 at Sketch N Scrap

TGIF!!  Today I am sharing my card sketch for August 5th at Sketch N Scrap and a card I created using the sketch.  Here is the sketch:

Here is the card I created using this fun sketch:
Supplies Used: cardstock: Stampin' Up Night of Navy & Whisper White; Patterned Paper: Carta Bella Hello Again (pink) & October Afternoon (yellow); stamps: Stampin' Up Simply Sketched; journal card: Crate Paper Flourish; sticker (Flower): Echo Park I'd Rather Be Crafting; ink: Stampin' Up Night of Navy

I created this card for my Mom's birthday.  I loved the shabby chic/vintage feel to this card and figured she would to!  I used papers and embellishments from my June & August Great Stash Bash kit to create this card.  I think the papers blended so well together! I loved this sketch so much I know I will be using it again real soon so you may see another card with it soon!  I hope you will play along with us this month at Sketch N Scrap!  I can't wait to see what you create!!

August Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom!

Good morning!  Today I am sharing my first layout of the month I created using the August Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom!  I know I say this every month but this kit is SPECTACULAR!!  You might want to hop right on over to The ScrapRoom store and grab yours before they are gone!!  Here is a look at the full kit:

Here is the Simple Stories Bro & Co collection I am using on today's layout:

Here is my layout created with this awesome kit:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Kraft- from the kit; patterned paper: Simple Stories Bro & Co- from the kit; stickers: Simple Stories Bro & Co- from the kit; date stamp: Heidi Swapp- from my stash; ink: Memento Tuxedo Black- from my stash

I just love these pictures of my nephew that my sister in law took at their lake place!  He is growing up so fast and little boy lines just aren't as appropriate for him now!  This line is perfect for those tween or teen boys in your life and the colors are so vibrant!  I love how this layout turned out and hope my sister in law does as well!  Make sure and hop on over to The ScrapRoom blog to see what the other DT members did with the awesome kit!  Happy creating!

Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?

I have always loved game shows!!  For the month of August at Cookin' Up Creations we are having a full month of game show challenges!  Sound fun?  I think so!!!!  Today it's my turn to host the challenge and so I picked my all time favorite game show: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader!!  Today's challenge is to create a layout with a school theme while also using this fun sketch by Heather Hall for Sketch N Scrap:

Here is my layout I created using both the sketch (rotated) & the challenge:
Supplies Used: cardstock: Black- American Crafts; Patterned Paper: Echo Park School Rules; stickers: Echo Park School Rules; ephemera: Echo Park School Rules; letter stickers:  Jenni Bowlin; tag: The ScrapRoom August kit

As you can see I rotated the sketch to accommodate my one picture since I didn't have 2 photos. Since I used a black background I didn't use ink splats but rather filled up the space with some fun stickers!  I hope you will play along with us at Cookin' Up Creations this month, there are going to be a lot of fun challenges based on current and vintage game shows, so if you are a game show connoisseur make sure and check it out!!   Happy creating!

Sketch N Scrap #206

Happy Sunday!  I hope your weekend has been relaxing!  Today I am sharing a layout I created using the August 1st sketch at Sketch N Scrap created by yours truly!  Here is the sketch:

Here is the layout I created with this sketch:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee Cedar Lane, Webster's Pages (woodgrain) & Carta Bella (pink); card stock: Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip; butterflies: Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper Sweet Story; Wood veneer: Elle's Studio (hearts & word strip) & CTMH (today); sticker: Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper Willow Lane

I just loved the way this turned out!  Most of the things I used on this layout are from my August Great Stash Bash kit!!  I did add in the pink and the blue from my stash but both are REALLY old and needed to be used up!  I haven't used wood veneers in so long, so it felt good to use these, I don't know why I don't use them, I like the look of the wood and these made a super fast and easy title!  If you want to learn more about Lisa and Lori's Great Stash Bash of 2020 go HERE!!  I hope you will play along with both challenges!!  Make sure and hop on over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to see what lovely layouts the DT created using this sketch!  Happy creating!!
