Sketch N Scrap #26

I can't believe it is time for another sketch at Sketch N Scrap!  February got here too fast!  Our sketch this time around is a 5 photo sketch.  I love using as many photos as possible on my layout! Here is the sketch:

I loved this sketch so much I made not one but TWO layouts using it!  The first one as you can see I stuck pretty close to the sketch using snowflakes as my embellishments.
 Supplies Used:  Patterned Paper: KI Memories, Simple Stories, Bella Blvd, snowflakes: Stampin Up, Simple Stories;
 stickers: Simple Stories; Letters: "snow" Making Memories, rest from Simple Stories, pearls: Kasiercraft

For my second layout I used a variety of embellishments in place of the snowflakes.
Supplies Used: Patterned Papers: Bo Bunny and My Mind's Eye; stickers: Bo Bunny; chipboard embellishments: My Mind's Eye;
punch outs: My Mind's Eye; brads: My Mind's Eye; letter stickers: Bo Bunny

It feels so good to use up some older stash!  The Bo Bunny and My Mind's Eye papers have been in my stash for quite some time so I was glad to find photos they worked with! The first layout is of my son during one of our OCTOBER trips to Nebraska a few years back!  Can you believe the amount of snow?  It was in the 90's when we left DFW and was 27 and starting to snow when we landed in Omaha! The second layout is of my nephew and his new ATV ride on toy that he got last summer.  He LOVES that thing! Plus he is a very good driver for a two year old! lol!  I hope you will find this sketch as inspiring as I did!  Don't forget to hop on over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to see what the other DT members did with it.  Plus we have a Guest Designer this month as well as a GREAT prize up for grabs!  You can see it all HERE. You have until February 28th to create a layout based on the sketch to be eligible for our randomly drawn prize.  Plus don't forget to mark February 7th on your calendar and join us for our first every blog hop! Tons of fun going on at Sketch N Scrap in February so stop by often!  I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Sketch N Scrap #25

Wow, the year is flying by, I can't believe we are half way through January already! I hope everyone's New Year has been filled with scrappiness and that you have been holding true to any resolutions you may have set!  I personally didn't set any this year.  Not sure why, just decided to keep working towards some goals I had already sat for myself and just didn't feel the need I guess :o)  It's time for another fun sketch at Sketch N Scrap this week!  This lovely sketch is by Brenshevia.

Here is my take on the sketch:
Supplies Used: Patterned Papers: My Mind's Eye;  Flair button: A Flair for Buttons; stars: Studio Calico;
letter stickers: Thickers by American Crafts; bling: kaiser craft; sticker: My Mind's Eye

These pictures were taken while on vacation in Gettysburg, PA this summer.  It was such a beautiful place, so serene, perfect weather, so hard to believe all the suffering that took place there so long ago.  We enjoyed learning the history of the place and also took time to lounge around while touring and enjoy the beauty as there were not many visitors on the days we were there.  There is still time to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap.  Use this sketch or our January 1st sketch as inspiration for a layout and link it up by January 31st for a chance to win our prize of flair buttons from our awesome sponsor A Flair for Buttons!
One last side note: I am enjoying my flairs I ordered from A Flair for Buttons, notice in my layout above I used one of the flair from the new set My Guy! This is a great set for those special guy pages!

Paper Secrets challenge!

I was lucky enough to get some scrappy time yesterday and was able to complete a couple of challenges! Great way to start the New Year huh?  I always want to play along with so many of them but find that I just don't always have the time to meet deadlines.  One of the places I always stalk and hope to play along is Paper Secrets.  So when I saw their sketch and found out the challenge was to use washi tape (which I just got for Christmas) I figured I'd give it a go!  Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: October Afternoon Very Merry (music note & red), Echo Park For the Record; washi tape- Michaels;
Letter stickers: Paper Trunk; Embossing Folder: Stampin Up; Cardstock: STampin Up; chipboard frame: Maya Road;  Flair:
A Flair for Buttons; flower: Petaloo.

My washi tape is the row of music notes above the black border strip and I also covered a chipboard circle with this washi tape to make an accent to set off my journaling.   I am also entering this layout in the week 52 challenge at Personalscrapper which is "anything goes".  I am very happy with how this layout turned out.  I'd been hoarding these pics for awhile now and it felt good to get them on paper! I hope you will find time to play along at Paper Secrets, but if not at least stop by and see all the awesome inspiration from their DT!  Kind of sad the holidays are over, cuz now I will have to get back to the daily grind and most likely won't have a lot of scrappy time during the week ;(  Good thing the weekend is going to be here soon!  Enjoy your week!

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a fabulous time ringing in 2013!  I know I did.  I went out to eat with my family, then home for some scrapping!  Although I must say it was an interesting experience, I had to move my scrappy stuff to another part of the house because where I normally scrap is right by a window and my neighbors were outside shooting off guns all night! Do people do that where you live?  I hope not, super scary!  I could go on and on with stories of these "people" but I won't, I promised myself to try and say only nice things in the New year and I would hate to break my promise on day one of the New Year! lol!  But here is something super nice...a NEW sketch from Sketch N Scrap! Yay!  I hope you like it!

And here is my example:

Supplies Used: Personalscrapper June 2010 kit. Patterned papers: Fancy Pants Rusted Sun;  Stickers: Fancy Pants Rusted Sun;  Punch: Upper crest punch by Fiskars; Letter stickers: Thickers by American Crafts and Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type; Bling: Kaisercraft; Flower: Bo Bunny

These photos were taken at our favorite waterpark NRH2O this past summer.  My niece, nephew and son LOVE this family tradition.  We usually go on Memorial Day and Labor Day each year, its a fun way to celebrate these holidays!  I also created this layout for Personalscrapper's 52 week challenge: Lots of Dots (week 45).  I hope you will hop on over the Sketch N Scrap to see all the wonderful creations by my fellow DT members, they are just gorgeous! I know you won't want to miss it, plus we have an AWESOME prize again from A Flair for Buttons, so link up your layout (s) for a chance to win these great flairs, they will make a great addition to your stash!  Happy New Year everyone!
