Happy Birthday Sketch N Scrap!

Happy Birthday to us!  Sketch N Scrap is turning one today and we are not just going to be celebrating today....NOPE we are celebrating everyday for the rest of the month!  That means LOTS of inspiration, lots of fun, lots of eye candy and the best part...LOTS & LOTS of prizes!   Now on to our first challenge:
How many of you drool over all the lovely monthly kits offered by various companies each month? I know I have!  I started scrapbooking in the late 90's and I have developed quite a hoard of supplies, I often joke I could start my own store! lol!  It seems I have LOTS of collections in my hoard where only a few papers or embellishments remain and so I just put them aside as there isn't a whole lot left to play with.  One day I needed a yellow paper to go with some pictures I was scrapping.  I found a nice yellow chevron paper but needed some coordinating papers as well, so I started digging in my stash and realized that MANY of the papers I had in other collections went perfectly with my yellow paper...(I was actually thinking of going to Michaels to pick out some papers to match it when I decided to dig in my stash!)  But sometimes I just don't have time to dig in my stash for a few hours looking for matching stuff...so I decided to create my own "kits' of matching papers and embellies from my stash...so that when I sit down to scrap I can get a lot done and not waste time "digging" through my stash!  I actually made up two of these kits in less then an hour. I figure as I find things that will go with these kits I can add on to them.  This kit I call Bright Eyed Boy...it has Echo Park About a Boy, Pebbles Seen and Noted, Basic Grey Hey Boy, My Mind's Eye Collectable and My Mind's Eye Boy Crazy papers as well as TONS of embellishments from companies such as Scenic Route (oldie but a goodie), KI Memories, SRM stickers, Little Yellow Bicycle, American Crafts (thickers), Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye, Bella Blvd (washi tape), and A Flair for buttons! It is packed!!!
Here is a close up of the papers: (side A)

 The other side (B)

Now here is my challenge for you.  Create your own "kit" from your stash.  Use the following recipe:
8 patterned papers
5 pieces of cardstock
2 alphabets
4-10 flowers - can be punched, handmade, store bought etc
2-3 sets of stickers (not letter)
Bling- pearls, rhinestones, stickles, glitter, sequins etc
3 misc embellies- i.e. doilies, journaling cards, chipboard, washi tape etc
Have fun with it! Get inspired to use up some of your stash!  Now what is in it for you besides the motivation to use up some of your hoard plus mix up some older products with newer ones?  Well, how about a PRIZE?  Each person that shares a link to their kit in the comments section below will get ONE entry into a random prize drawing for the following mini "kit":

This kit features papers by Fancy Pants, Glitz, and Autumn Leaves, KI Memories, plus stickers from Fancy Pants Be You collection, butterflies and journal tags from Jenni Bowlin, envies from Sticko, fibers/ribbon from Fancy Pants and misc buttons and flowers!  Enough to create at least 4 or more layouts!
Don't forget to share a link to your kit in the comments section.  Deadline is May 31st at midnight CST, I will announce a winner on June 1st!  Don't forget to follow us everyday for the rest of May on the Sketch N Scrap blog for MORE chances to participate in some fun challenges with lots of prize opportunities!
To see my second kit I made up from my stash called BLUE BAYOU please visit the Sketch N Scrap Facebook page!  Don't forget to LIKE us to stay up to date with all our Birthday Bash challenges!
Happy kitting!  I can't wait to drool over all the fun kits you create!

Happy NSD!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!  I hope everyone got some creative time today! Did you participate in any challenges?  There are so many to pick from and many are going on into tomorrow or the next week, so there is still time to join in!  I was able to catch up on some fun things for our upcoming Birthday Bash over at Sketch N Scrap....can't share quite yet, but let's just say you won't want to miss this..so make sure & follow us at Sketch N Scrap or tune in on May 7th as we kick off our birthday bash! Since I can't share anything I made today I thought I would share a layout I did last weekend.
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Pebblies Seen & Noted, Basic Grey Hey Boy, Scenic Route; stickers:
Echo Park About a Boy & Pebbles Senn & noted; journal card- Echo Park About a Boy;  Flair:
A flair for Buttons; wood veneer shapes- Studio Calico;  letter stickers- Basic Grey; punch: Stampin Up

I actually completed this layout as part of a one hour fast scrap challenge over at My Scraps & More last weekend.  I must admit, that I did alter the layout after the fact just a touch...I couldn't find the letter stickers that are on the layout now during the hour challenge & just slapped on the nearest brown letters I could find which were HUGE & didn't look right on my layout...so I removed them & added the smaller Basic Grey ones when I finall found them (in a kit bag 1/2 hour later).  Then I added the stars and the two stickers banners on the right...but I did glue EVERYTHING down, journal and conceive of the layout in ONE HOUR!!!!  That is not easy for a slow scrapper like me!  I finally got this fun picture of my son & nephew scrapped...I have had it on my desk for almost 3 years now..but until these fun bright papers came along I really couldn't find anything I liked to use with it....more on these papers later...hint...hint...you will be seeing more of them in the coming week (s).  Overall I am very pleased with how it turned out!
Now on to more scrappy news!  We are having a design team call at Sketch N Scrap , if you are looking to be part of a fun team creating 2 layouts a month, then please apply, no experience is necessary!  You can find out more about the call HERE.  Plus there is an awesome prize up for grab this month, The ScrapRoom is sponsoring us and offering a $25 gift certificate!  If you haven't checked out their kits, you need to!  Plus as an added bonus to our readers they are offering a FREE layout kit with your first kit shipment when you join their kit club!  Just enter Sketchnscrap at checkout to get your FREE layout kit!  I must say I LOVE FREE...especially free scrappy stuff :o)  Happy NSD everyone!!

Sketch N Scrap #32

Happy May everyone!  I don't know about you but I have Spring fever!  I am torn between staying indoors and scrapping or running around outside enjoying the perfect weather we have had the last two days! I had a blast playing along with our first sketch of the month and I know you will too:

Pin It! And here is my interpretation of the sketch:
Supplies Used: Patterned paper- Pebbles Seen & Noted, Fancy Pants Be You,  Cardstock: Bazzill
Letter stickers: Pebbles; Stickers: Fancy Pants; journal blocks: Scenic Route & flowers: Sassafrass

I love these pictures of my niece spending an afternoon with me crafting one late winter day.  We had a great time, she is a craft queen for sure, she can add a unique and creative touch to anything she makes! I ended up going with such bright colors as these are her favorites and I thought they set off the pictures well.  I normally don't use such bright colors but I really like how it turned out in the end!
I am so excited to be celebrating Sketch N Scrap's first birthday this month!  We have LOADS of challenges,  heaps of inspiration and of course PRIZES!!!!  So don't miss out ~ challenges kick off officially on May 7th on the Sketch N Scrap blog!  But what about an early present?  I know when I was a kid I always begged to open "one" gift early on my birthday...so here is your early gift ~ our May sponsor is THE SCRAPROOM and besides offering up a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner this month they are also offering each of our readers who sign up for a ScrapRoom kit subscription this month the chance to get a FREE layout kit with their first shipment!   WOW!  Just enter the coupon code Sketchnscrap at checkout to get your free layout kit!  Now that is my kind of present!  Also don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook to stay abreast of all the celebrations, challenges, prizes and inspiration this month and in the future!  Happy Birthday Sketch N Scrap!

Sketch N Scrap #31

Happy sketch day!  Here is the second awesome sketch for April by the very talented Brenshevia:

And here is my take on it:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: We R Memory Keepers 72 & Sunny; chipboard: We R Memory Keepers;
cardstock: Bazzill; Alphas: Doodlebug, Paper Trunk, and American Craft Thickers.

I am totally petrified of doing paint splatters on my layouts, thus this layout is free of the splatters shown on the sketch.  It is just to random for me, I have tried it and then ended up hating my layout, so those of you that can do it and make it look awesome and random, I bow down to your creative greatness!  These pics were taken at our favorite watering hole a few years back, we have so many pics from this same place and we always have a blast!  I was so glad to finally use up some more of my stash, I loved this paper line but didn't get too much of it for some reason, but enough to do a few layouts anyway!  I hope you will join us at Sketch N Scrap this month as you still have until the 30th of April to complete layouts from our two sketches!   Happy Scrapping!
