Fun sketch challenge!

Good evening!  I think everyone knows how much I love a good sketch challenge!  I recently joined some of my cyber friends over at the Cherry on Top message board where they have a bunch of challenges every month, I figure I needed to make good use of my extra time this next few weeks!  I saw that they have a weekly sketch challenge using a Becky Fleck sketch, so I decided to give it a whirl!
Here is the sketch:

Here is my layout using the sketch AND my Great Stash Bash kit:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: CTMH White & Black; Patterned Paper: Amy Tangerine Plus One(grey); CTMH I Heart Us (green), Bella Blvd Island Escape (pink banner) & Shimelle Little by Little (raindrops); frame: unknown source; ephemera: Fancy Pants Happy Place & PinkFresh Studios My Favorite Story; sticker: sun- Echo Park; letter stickers: Making Memories; Metal Word: Making Memories; word strip: washi sticker Jillibean Soup
Can you believe how much older stash and how many different manufacturers I have used on this layout?  I didn't realize it until I went to make the supply list!  I have been really concentrating on using my Great Stash Bash kit this month...I have done awesome using up 2 full papers and 2 of my scraps.  I also have used up at least 1/2 piece of 2 other papers.  I hope to use up the entire kit by the end of the month, so stay tuned for a recap then!  I already had these pictures of my nephew printed out and on my desk for a long while now waiting on the right layout.  I was going to use other pictures but then realized I could adapt the sketch to these pictures that where already printed.  I fussy cut the bear out of a cut apart card from one of the Shimelle Little By Little papers...the whole reason I bought this paper was that darn bear!  I only have 3 papers from this line, so I think that is why I have not used them in the past few years!  Doesn't he look so cute peeking out of that frame?  I just love the way this turned out!  I hope you will check out A Cherry on Top's forum to see what the other ladies did with this fun sketch!  And don't forget to check out Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash 2020 challenge as well, we would love to have you join us!  Happy creating and stash bashing friends!

Card sketch #168

Today we launched the last sketch of the month for April at Sketch N Scrap!  The sketch was created by yours truly.  Here is the sketch:

I liked this sketch so much that I made 2 cards using it.  Here are my cards created with the sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Stampin' Up Whisper White, Basic Black, Soft Sky, Watermelon Wonder & Luscious Lime; patterned paper: Paper House Productions Baby Boy Banner; ink: Memento Tuexedo Black; Stamp: Stampin' Up Part of My Story; embossing folders: Stampin' Up; dies: circle and scallop circle- Stampin' Up; and 3D stickers: Paper House Productions Panda

Supplies Used: Cardstock: Stampin' Up Whisper White & Basic Black; patterned paper: Pink Paislee 5th and Monaco; stickers: Pink Paislee 5th and Monaco; thread: source unknown; ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; stamp: Kerry Bradford Studios
I plan on sending these cards out as part of my happy mail campaign I have started while in this quarantine season.  I started out strong sending a bunch of cards at once, but I was so surprised by how long writing a note to each person took (the cards were already made)!  So now I have decided to send out one card twice a week...that allows me to be more realistic and use my time better.  Plus, I am hoping by establishing a schedule for this task this will allow to me to continue to do this after all this social distancing is over, because let's face it it's always fun to get happy mail!!  So don't feel bad if you haven't received a card from me yet, if I have your address you will get one from me at some point!  Make sure and head on over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to check out all the amazing cards the DT created with this sketch!  We hope you will join us this month!  You have until April 30th at 9:55 pm CST to play along!  Happy creating!

Double Page layout & The April Flavors of the month kit

Good morning! Today I am sharing with you a double page layout I created using the April Flavors of the month kit at The ScrapRoom.  Here is a reminder of the entire kit:

Here is the Pink Fresh Studios My Favorite Story mini kit I used for today's layout:

My layout created with the kit:
Supplies Used: cardstock: blue- from the kit; Patterned Paper: Pink Fresh Studios My Favorite Story- from the kit; ephemera: Pink Fresh Studios My Favorite Story- from the kit; chipboard frame & Chipboard sticker circles: Pink Fresh Studios My Favorite Story-from the kit; enamel dots: Pink Fresh Studios My Favorite Story- from the kit; word phrase & Puffy heart stickers: Pink Fresh Studios My Favorite Story- from the embellishment kit.
I love the beautiful colors in this kit!  I also loved the lovely script words included in the embellishment kit, they make amazing titles for your layouts!  Pink Fresh has the best embellishments! The chipboard frames and circle stickers are just the best accents! I though this collection went well with these photos of my friend's adorable granddaughter.  Make sure and hop on over to The ScrapRoom blog to check out the other double page layouts created by the DT!

April Flavors of the month kit

Happy Monday!! Today it's my turn to host another fun challenge in the monthly Facebook group for Sketch N Scrap!  For my challenge I am using the April Flavors of the month kit at The ScrapRoom and an oldie but goodie sketch from Sketch N Scrap!  This sketch was from August of 2018!  The challenge is to create a layout based on this sketch with the added fun OPTIONAL TWIST to use a SPRING color palette on your layout!  Here is the sketch created by yours truly:

Here is the Fancy Pants A Cherry On Top collection I used from the April Flavors of the Month kit:

Here is the layout I created from the kit using the sketch:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants A Cherry on Top- from the kit; ephemera: Fancy Pants A Cherry on Top- from the kit; chipboard: Fancy Pants A Cherry On Top- from the embellishment kit; journal card- unknown source- from my stash; enamel dots: Fancy Pants A Cherry on Top- from the kit; date stamp: Heidi Swapp- from my stash; ink: Memento Tuxedo Black- from my stash
I LOVED this color palette! It's so soft and looks amazing with your ice cream pics, however the "B" sides are very neutral, so you could really use these papers with any type of pictures! I loved the paper I used for my background because it has the ink splats are already printed on the paper!! How easy is that?  Plus it gives that fun mixed media look without all the mess!  These are pictures of my niece and nephew way back when in 2014 eating ice cream after a fun hot day at the zoo!  I couldn't believe when I found this journal card in my stash, it totally matches the ink splats/color palette of this collection...what a great find! I hope you will join in our monthly Facebook challenges this month, you have until the end of April to play along!  Happy creating friends!

Sunday, April 12, 2020

Good morning!  Today it was my turn to host the challenge in the Sketch N Scrap monthly Facebook challenge group!  My challenge for everyone today is to create a card based on card sketch #107.  For fun we always add an optional twist to our challenges, mine is to use brads or eyelets on your card! Here is the sketch by the very talented Heather Hall:

Here is my card created with the sketch:
Supplies Used: cardstock: Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight & whisper White from Stampin' Up; Patterned Paper: Photo Play Paper Tulla & Norbert; brads: We R Memory Keepers, die: stitched circle by Stampin' Up; ephemera: Photo Play Paper Tulla & Norbert
These brads are so old and I have a TON of them!  I guess I thought they were pretty great back in the day OR I accidentally forgot I had some and bought more lol!  It was great to find a way to use them up.  The colors of these "sugar coated" brads matched this paper line perfectly!! I hope you will find time to join us in the Facebook group as we have 4 fun challenges there each month!!  Happy creating!

April TN Time with Lisa & Lori!

TGIF!  I know with things not so "normal" for many of us you may find yourself with more time then usual on your hands.  If that is the case then I hope you will join our challenge this month! Today we are launching another sketch and another fun challenge!  So let's get this party started!

HERE IS HOW OUR CHALLENGE WORKS: This is a monthly challenge that launches on the 10th of each month  You will have until the 9th at midnight CST to link up your entries. If you complete my sketch challenge link your TN, bullet journal or planner spread below. If you combined my challenge with Lori's challenge link up your spread here on my blog AND on Lori's Blog (My Happy Life).  You will then have a chance to win my prize as well as Lori's prize!  That's a chance to win TWO times with ONE layout! WOW!
Now for my challenge!! Here is this month's sketch:

Now for Lori's fun challenge:
Easy peasy, just use your FAVORITE  BOY or GIRL color combo and your FAVORITE embellishment on your spread!
Here is my TN spread using BOTH the sketch and Lori's challenge:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Simple Stories Hey Crafty Girl & The Reset Girl & Pebbles My Bright Life & Along theWay; stickers: Simple Stories Hey Crafty Girl; puffy stickers (hearts): Elle's Studio; tags: The Reset Girl & Pebbles; library pocket: unknown source; fiber: unknown source; enamel heart: Simple Stories Hey Crafty Girl
Here are a few close ups:
My favorite embellishment really hasn't changed...I still LOVE stickers!!  So for my favorite embellishment I went with stickers!  I love using stickers to make my title, especially when there are cute ones like this "Memories Made Beautiful" sticker!  In a small TN it's hard to use letter stickers, especially when you like longer titles like I do!  I wanted this title to be Quarantine crafting but I just knew that title was way to big for the space I had available! I will add that to the tag when I do my journaling!

This is the weekend before the stay safe, stay home order went into effect.  My niece and I were enjoying a fun crafty weekend making cards...later that night we went to Hobby Lobby to shop!  Who knew it would be our last trip in a LONG while!

My favorite girl color combo right now is pink, green and yellow/gold!  Not sure why but I have used it a lot lately and I think I will be doing so for some time!  Now it's your turn to give this sketch/challenge a whirl!
RULES FOR THE CHALLENGE (to be entered into the prize drawing):

April Flavors of the Month kit

Happy Friday Eve!! Today I am sharing my third layout created this month with the April Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom.  Here is a reminder of the full kit:

Here is the mini kit of Simple Stories I am that I used for today's layout:

My layout using the kit:
Supplies Used: Cardstock- ivory- from the kit; pattern Paper: Simple Stories I Am - from the kit; ephemera: Simple Stories I Am- from the kit; stickers: Simple Stories I am - from the embellishment kit; title: American Crafts Thickers Phrases- from the kit; enamel dots: Simple Stories- from my stash
I took this photo of my niece two Christmas' ago.  She had wanted this phone that looked like an old time corded phone but it actually plugged into your cell phone so you could use it to talk on.  It was really cute and not to expensive but she was so thrilled to use it so I went to see what she was doing in her bedroom and she was talking to a friend on it so I snapped her picture.  I thought this line went perfect with the colors in her room!  Make sure and hop on over to the ScrapRoom blog to see what the other DT did with this amazing kit!  Happy creating!!

Card sketch #167

Happy Monday!  What a better way to start the week off then with some creative time!!  Today I am sharing a card I made using the April 5th card sketch at Sketch N Scrap!! Here is the sketch designed by sketch artist Heather Hall:

Here is my card using the sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Whisper White & YoYo Yellow -Stampin' Up; Patterned Paper: Photo Play Paper Best Mom Ever; sticker: Photo Play Paper Best Mom Ever; ink: Memento-Tuxedo Black; stamp: CTMH Card Captions
I just had a few scraps of this amazing paper left from my May 2019 Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom so I thought the scraps were about the right sizes for this sketch and turns out I was right! I did have to mount the floral paper on the yellow as it was a bit shorter then I wanted but I like that look anyway!  I loved these papers, they are just gorgeous! The black with the pops of color looks amazing!  I hope you will find time to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap this month!  We lots of fun challenges as well as some amazing sketches!!  Happy creating!

April 1st sketch at Sketch N Scrap!

TGIF!!  I don't know about you but it seems as if all the days are running together and when I wake up I have to check my phone to see what day it is!  Today I am sharing my layout made using the April 1st sketch at Sketch N Scrap created by yours truly!  Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout using the sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: White - Bazzill;  Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants Happy Place, CTMH I Heart Us; ephemera: Fancy Pants Happy Place; cut apart card: Shimelle Little by Little; flower: Basic Grey
I just love how this turned out!  Everything I used on this layout was from my April 2020 Great Stash Bash kit except the red paper which is an older paper from the Fancy Pants Happy Place collection.  I have almost used up this entire collection.  I was using a yellow paper from my kit in place of the red but it washed out my pictures so I went with the red which looked much better!  So one layout created with my Stash Bash kit already this month!  Hopefully there are many more to come! This is the last time my niece and I were able to get together before the stay home orders went in place.  She was bored from being out of school for 2 weeks and so we got together to craft and make cards!  We had so much fun, looking back I was thinking we would have many more meet ups while she was out of school but no such luck as we are staying away as we have been instructed to and just texting...I can't wait to we can make some fun cards together again soon!  If you want to see my entire April 2020 Great Stash Bash kit then you can see it and read about this fun challenge HERE!  I hope you will join me and my friend Lori and shop your stash to create a fun kit to use over the next month!  Also don't forget to check out the Sketch N Scrap blog and see what amazing layouts the DT has created with this sketch.  Happy creating!

Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash 2020 ~ April Edition

Happy April!!  No foolin' it's another month and that means time to pick another fun kit to bash!! With all that is going on right now I think we can all use a break from the news cycle and spend some much needed "therapy" time getting creative!  So let's get the party started!

For those who are new to the challenge here is how it works:
On the 1st of each month we will post a challenge prompt and the stash kit we have created following that prompt. During the month we will try to use as much of our stash kits as possible on different projects. Then, on the last day of the month, we will do a recap post showing what stash we were able to bash!
This will be a just-for-fun challenge so no monthly prize - but isn't the real prize using up our stash? You never know - if we still have a few unused stash items after a few months, then those items may just go into a giveaway. We hope you will join us in our quest to bash some stash in 2020. If you accept the challenge to play along - link up on either my blog or Lori's blog (or both if you choose) so that we can see who is joining us each month!
Now for our April challenge:
This month we will create a kit with 10 papers (seven papers 3 years or older & three newer papers), 5-7 scrap papers, 4 embellishments (three that are 3 years or older & one newer one), and some stamps!!
Since this is a just for fun challenge the rules are not set in stone BUT we have them to help you focus on what really matters using your stash!  We also hope you will help spread the word of our fun challenge so others may join in!!  You know you have at least one friend who needs to use her stash!!
Here are the rules:
1. Follow the challenge prompt to create a kit to work with throughout the month. You may use other items, but please concentrate on using your kit.
2. Create new, not previously posted projects using your stash kit.
3. If you have a blog - please include the challenge graphic and a link to our challenge in your posts.
4. You may link to social media if you don't have a blog. If you share on Instagram, please make sure to use - #lisaandlorisgreatstashbash2020
Here is the kit I created using the April prompts:

Here are some close ups:
These are my older papers.  I used American Crafts Shimelle Little By Little (3), Shimelle Starshine (1), American Crafts Amy Tangerine Plus One (2), Echo Park Splendid Sunshine (1), and Teresa Collins Save the Date (1). I couldn't whittle my kit down any further so I picked 8 instead of 7 older papers!
These are my newer papers they are from the following lines: Pink Paislee Bloom Street (1), Heidi Swapp Storyline (2) and Pink Fresh Be You (1)...as you can see I picked 4 instead of 3 papers.  Sometimes it's easier to just add the extra instead of trying to figure out which one to leave out!!
My scraps.  Once again I picked more then 7, I picked 8.  They are from the following lines: Jillibean Soup Rainbow Roux, CTMH I Heart Us, CTMH Celebrate Mix In, Bella Blvd Island Escape, and  American Crafts Plus One.  The yellow plaids I am not sure of as they didn't have the strip still on them!

Here is my washi tape.  I picked a variety so it's easier to use.  I have SOOO much washi it really was hard to limit it to just these 15 rolls!!  I hope to use a bunch of this during April!
And last but not least my embellishments:
I used ephemera from Fancy Pants Happy Place, epoxy hearts from The Hip Kit Club, puffy stickers from Elle's Studio Noteworthy line, American Crafts Thickers, and word strips from Pretty Little Studio!
I hope you will be inspired to dig through your stash this month and play along with myself and Lori as we endeavor to bash some stash in 2020!!  I have been a bit lazy on posting recaps as I had intended to do.  I am going to try and do a recap of my March kit in the next few days so stay tuned... then moving forward I will try and do one each month! If you chose to play along make sure and link up below, we'd love to see what you have put together for a kit & what you create with it!  Happy creating friends!
