I made this card in record time!! September Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom

Happy Labor Day!! I hope your September is off to a good start!  Mine is!  I am really looking forward to Fall even though it is still in the high 90's here every day I am counting down the days til we have some cool crisp Fall air!!  Today I am sharing my first layout I created with the September Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom.

I loved this picture of my son and his girlfriend and knew it would be perfect for this cheery and happy kit!  There wasn't much color in the picture so the brightly colored papers make the picture just pop off the page!  I think these patterns are so happy don't you?  Make sure and hop on over to The ScrapRoom blog to see the other layouts the DT created with this amazing kit!  Happy creating! 

TN Time with Lisa & Lori 2021

It's a New Year and I am still playing along in my traveler's notebook with my friend Lori aiming to provide you with a fun monthly Traveler's notebook challenge each and every month in 2021!!  So let's kick off the New Year with a new TN Time with Lisa & Lori challenge!!

HERE IS HOW OUR CHALLENGE WORKS: This is a monthly challenge that launches on the 10th of each month  You will have until the 9th at midnight CST to link up your entries. If you complete my sketch challenge link your TN, bullet journal or planner spread below. If you combined my challenge with Lori's challenge link up your spread here on my blog AND on Lori's Blog (My Happy Life). For 2021 we are making this challenge a "just for fun" challenge with no prize, but isn't the real prize just documenting your memories and getting more pages done in 2021???!!!!

What an fun challenge!!  I love the color blue and have tons of washi tape so this challenge was super easy for me!   

Here is my spread in my new 2021 TN- I used the sketch & Lori's challenge:

I stuck pretty close to the sketch as you can see, however, for my washi tape I placed it on a strip of white cardstock and then adhered it slightly under the red piece to make a washi tape border!  I just didn't like how the dots on the grid paper of the TN showed through the washi so I improvised and added it to the white cardstock...it actually was easier to get it straight this way too so I may use this technique (cheat) more often!!

I tried to stamp my month and day but ended up smearing the ink!! ugghhh...so since this was the only journal card I had like this and I didn't want to chunk it I just printed the day/month on my computer and glued it over the mistake lol!  You can see for my blue elements of the challenge I used this beautiful blue floral paper by Bella Blvd Let's Go on an Adventure as well as a blue church and word strip sticker and blue letters!! 

We had a prayer night last week at our church and I was active in planning it as I am a member of the prayer ministry team.  So far this is the only thing I have done in January with no plans to do anything else so it is my first "event" of the New Year!  And with all of the chaos that happened last week it was the perfect night for a prayer night!  This is the verse our pastor recited to us from 2 Chronicles at the start of the service and is one I want to keep in the forefront of my mind all year!

Cookin' Up Creations ~ Name That Tune!

I'm back with another fun challenge for you today!  Today I am hosting the Game Show Challenge of the Day at Cookin' Up Creations!! For the month of August we are basing all the challenges on various game shows!! Today I have selected the game show: "Name That Tune".  Did you know Name That Tune started way back in 1952?  It was a long running show that last aired in 1985 Wow!!  I used to love watching this show when I was younger, but I must admit I rarely could "Name That Tune"!!!  For my challenge you must create a layout that uses a song title as your layout title!! Easy peasy!! The hardest part was selecting which song I wanted to use!!   Here is my layout I created for this challenge:

When I was going through my stickers on one of my stash reorganization gigs I noticed that the quote was "Girls Can Change the World" which was funny since it is a song my niece loves!!  When we get crafty together we always play music and she loves to share her favorite songs with me, many of them I'm not to excited to listen to as I don't care for them, but this one has a catchy tune and the lyrics I found were positive and uplifting!  Here is my favorite verse from the song:

"I think it's time that

When deciding on my layout for this challenge I had a two fold goal in mind: to use up a kit I had made from scraps of older The ScrapRoom kits and to make a fun layout for my Name That Tune challenge using this sticker "Girls Can Change the World" which was the song I selected!  I decided I wanted to use a lot of fun girl stickers on my layout so I chose a grid style layout so I could do so!  I love how it turned out, the fun word strips and the unicorn are so fun and girly and then I also included a treble clef by my title to represent the song title!!  I hope you will find time to play along with us at Cookin' Up Creations this month.  Make sure and hop on over to the forum to see what songs people are using for their titles!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!!  Happy creating!

Cookin' Up Creations White + Orange Challenge!

TGIF!  Today I am sharing another fun challenge that I am hosting over at Cookin' Up Creations!!  If you remember from earlier in the month we are focusing on the color WHITE plus one other color this month and the other color changes for each challenge!  My last challenge I had the color pink but for this challenge I have the color ORANGE!!  I don't know about you but when I think of orange I think of Fall!!  So I printed out a Fall picture of my sister-in-law, brother and nephew taken on their front porch a few Falls back when it was all decked out!!  Here is my layout for this fun challenge:

I love how this turned out! I used mainly scraps from my scraps pile for this layout.  The only non-scrap was the word paper from Elle's Studio which is a 6 x 6 piece from one of my 6 x 6 pads.  I had fun combining a variety of manufacturers products on this layout and I think it turned out so well and everyone worked well together despite being from different lines!  Make sure and head on over to Cookin' Up Creations to see what the other members did and see what other colors we have been challenged to use!  I hope you will find time to play along with us this month!  Happy creating! 

NSD sketch challenge!!

Happy weekend!  I know NSD was last weekend but I am just getting around to posting this fun layout I created on NSD!  This layout was created for my friend Stacy's sketch challenge at A Cherry on Top.  This is Stacy's first sketch and I was so excited for her that I just HAD to participate by using this amazing sketch!  Here is her sketch:

I loved this collection, I didn't buy much of it because I had received some in my June 2019 Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom, so I am just now using it all up!  I still have a few small scraps left and 3 pieces of ephemera so not sure if I can get another layout out of it or not...but I will try.  I just loved the bright vibrant colors and floral prints in this collection, it was perfect for these pictures of my brother, sister- in- law and nephew out on the lake one day!! I hope your weekend is going well!  I had some crafty time today so decided to make a card using the March 5th card sketch by Heather at Sketch N Scrap! This card is sketch is going right to my favorites list, it is SO versatile!!  I'm using some older CTMH papers that I have been hoarding because the colors are just sooooo lovely!!  Here is the sketch:

I love the color combo of green and pink, it's my current obsession!! I am really making an effort to use my stash, so far I haven't bought any new stash yet this year, the only new things are my kits which I get for my DT work....trying to use up some things so I can make a big buy in the middle of the year as a treat to myself...although it seems like out of sight out of mind, if I don't go to the craft store I don't buy anything lol!  That may all change in April when I am making a trek to The Little Craft Place in Houston!  I better step it up to make room for some new supplies lol!!  Make sure and hop on over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to check out what the other DT members have done with this fun card sketch!  Happy creating!

This is our attempt at a selfie in front of the fountain on The Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri this past August.  It is hard to take a selfie with someone who is a full foot taller then you lol!  My son was a good sport though as he is not a fan of selfies but knew I wanted to document this trip of us.  It was super hot that day and the sun was so bright so not the best picture taking conditions but that just adds to the special memories we made!  My son was born in Kansas City but we moved to Texas when he was just 4 months old.  He was interning this Summer in Kansas City so it was the perfect opportunity to visit him and show him the city in which he was born!!  Once again I combined scraps from multiple lines to made my spread and I was super excited to see how these lines all combined together!  The sticker sheet from the Simple Stories Travel Notes line is so fun but I didn't have any papers left from that line so I had to combine the stickers with other papers and I was super pleased at how well these stickers combined with the other lines of which I had no embellishments left over!  It's definitely a fun challenge to try and use up left overs in this fashion!! 

 For Lori's challenge I used hearts, ephemera, a label, and polka dots (green paper)

This month we have a little bonus for you as well~ we have a Guest Designer playing along with us!  Our Guest Designer this month is Sandi Pressley!  

 Here is a bit about Sandi:  Hi, I am Sandi Pressley from Palm Coast, Florida which is on the east coast of the state between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. I am recently retired from selling roofing and building materials and am enjoying my retirement so far more than I even imagined. I have been a paper crafter for nearly 13 years now. I love all size canvases from cards to 12x12 traditional layouts. This year I started my personal memory keeping of life with my wonderful and crazy husband in a Traveler’s Notebook and I must say, I really love this size. The pages come together quickly especially when using one of Lisa’s awesome sketches and paired with a fun challenge from Lori. 

I was born and raised in Chicago. When Dave and I were married in 2003 we moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where we lived for 4 years until moving to Florida. I have two sons that still live in the Chicago area and they have given me 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 18 to 8...... Jake, Cole, Abby and Izzy. Their pictures and activities fill the scrapbooks on my shelves.  

Besides crafting, I like to read, go out to lunch with friends, go to the gym and research future home improvements to keep my husband busy on the weekends. We are soon to become dog parents to a French Bulldog puppy. This layout is the first of many I am sure I will create about our new little girl.

Sketch N Scrap #182

Happy weekend!! I hope your weekend will be filled with lots of creative time! Today I am sharing a fun layout I made using the August 1st sketch at Sketch N Scrap.  Here is the sketch I made:

I dug deep into my scraps pile to make this layout.  I was actually just to lazy to go into my office to look for new papers so I just started with a wood grain background and slowly added some larger scraps that coordinated to make this layout.  The ephemera and stickers were all left overs from past kits that were lying on my desk so I really did "throw" this layout together from a mish mash of products!! I love the way it turned out and in fact can't believe that I was able to coordinate so many new and old lines together into something I really loved in a relatively short time!  These pictures are of my brother, sister-in-law and nephew on Memorial Day as they enjoyed some fun at the lake they visit frequently in the Summer!  I love the variety of the pictures and felt it really gave a brief peek into their life at the lake!  I hope you will hop on over to Sketch N Scrap to check out what the other DT members did with this fun sketch and maybe even give it a go yourself! Sketch N Scrap card sketch #150

Happy Hump Day!! Today I am sharing with you my card I created using the July 20th sketch at Sketch N Scrap.  This sketch was created by yours truly, here it is:

I loved this new July 4th line by Bella Blvd, the prints are so fun and the colors as normal for Bella Blvd are super rich and gorgeous!  When I saw this adorable ice cream cone I knew it would be perfect for this sketch!! These papers were all scraps left over from my July Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom!!  I love using my scraps to create cards!! Happy birthday USA!!

Happy Independence Day to all my American crafty friends!! I hope your day will be filled with family time, good food, and fireworks!!  Today I am sharing a layout I made using the SUPER fun July kit at The ScrapRoom!!  Here is the full kit:

I loved the beautiful bright colors and lovely patterns of this kit!! I decided to go with lots of color for this layout so I used a full piece of patterned paper for my background.  I used the letters that came in my kit (USA) and created a title from them by stamping the words "happy birthday" in black ink on  piece of white cardstock. The kit came with lovely rhinestone lines that I cut apart and use to embellish my fireworks and stars.  I know you will love this kit!!  Make sure and head over to the ScrapRoom blog to see all the beautiful layouts the DT created wtih this kit.  Enjoy your holiday and happy creating!!!!
