Card sketch #112

Christmas is getting closer by the minute!  Are you ready?  I am frantically finishing up last minute shopping, wrapping gifts and even still doing some decorating- yikes!  It's the busiest time of the year after all!  But I wasn't to busy to take a much needed creative break and whip up a card using the December 20th card sketch at Sketch N Scrap!  Here is the sketch by me:

And here is my card using the sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock- Stampin' Up- Whisper White, Basic Black, Gold & Soft Sky; Patterned Paper- Pink Paislee Girl Squad; Dies: Stampin' Up Scallop and circle; enamel dots- Teresa Collins (heart) & CTMH (circles)

I used my circle die to cut out the coffee cup from a PL style card that comes with these papers, I decided I liked the circle better then a square since the sketch obviously had a circle!  I love this line, it is so fun, amazing colors with pops of gold and some really fun sentiments!  Perfect for scrapbooking OR card making or even for your planners!  I hope you will take time out this busy season and reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and also to take some time for yourself to refresh and renew!  You have until December 31st at 9:55 pm CST to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap!!
Merry Christmas and happy creating friends!

The ScrapRoom December Doubleshot kit

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!  I hope you are enjoying this holiday season as much as I am!  Of course for me that means fun creating some Christmas layouts!  The December Doubleshot kit is PERFECT for your holiday season scrapping!
Here is the Fancy Pants Holiday Hustle kit:

Here is my layout created using the kit:
Supplies Used: Cardstock- American Crafts white from the kit & black from my stash; Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants Holiday Hustle- from the kit; die cut embellishments- Fancy Pants Holiday Hustle- from the kit; Wood embellishments- Fancy Pants Holiday Hustle- from the kit; Letter stickers: Paper Trunk, American Crafts Thickers - from my stash; enamel dots- My Mind's Eye-my stash.

I love the nontraditional colors of the kit I think the papers looked great with a pop of black so I mounted all the papers on black cardstock from my stash to give them a bit of pizzazz and also to bring out the black in the shirt my son was wearing.  These are some of my favorite pictures of my son decorating the Christmas tree and goofing around!  Of course he is to "old" to help Mom decorate the tree now, so these are especially cherished pictures and memories!  I know you will love this kit as much as I do!  Make sure and stop by the ScrapRoom blog to see what the other designers did with the kit, some great inspiration today on the blog!  If you are interested in getting a kit of your own make sure and visit The ScrapRoom store to purchase yours!!  Enjoy the season friends and be creative!

Sketch N Scrap card sketch #111

Happy December!  I have been SUPER busy already this month! I have my Christmas tree and decorations mostly up, just need to finish my mantle and put out my small tree in my entryway plus I have ALL my gifts bought and some even wrapped yay!  SO excited, that I am ahead of my norm for this time of year so far!  I am hoping to slow down soon and spend more time getting crafty and enjoying my son's time home from college!  We have our first card sketch of the month up at Sketch N Scrap today!  This sketch is by Heather and is so versatile I know I will be using it over and over!  Here is the sketch:

My take on the sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Stampin' Up Whisper White and Garden Green; Patterned Paper: PhotoPlay Mad for Plaid & Stampin' Up (dots); stickers: PhotoPlay Mad for Plaid (tree, star, scallop edge & sentiment)

I am trying to get enough Christmas cards completed to send out next week!  I am just lacking a few more!  I used the scraps from my December ScrapRoom Doubleshot kit for this card!  I had a bunch of left over stickers but not much left over paper, so I had to combine this Stampin' Up scrap paper with the plaid Mad for Plaid paper from the kit to make this card.  Now I am literally down to a very FEW scraps with this kit!  I loved the papers in this kit, so fun to play with!  If you are interested in getting your own December Doubleshot kit check it out in the ScrapRoom store HERE!  Don't forget to stop on over at the Sketch N Scrap blog to see what else the DT did with this fun sketch!  Happy creating friends!

Sketches in Thyme- Project Lifestyle sketch #90

I am having so much fun with the sketches over at the Sketches in Thyme Project Lifestyle blog!  Have you checked it out yet?  I have enjoyed doing some "Project Life" style pocket scrapbooking layouts but this time around I had been working on my faith planner and was inspired to create a layout for that!  Here is the amazing sketch by Emma Prescott:

Here is my 4 x 6 "card" created with the sketch:

Here is my completed 6 x 8 layout for my faith planner.  I am using a CTMH everyday album that has 6 x 8 page proctors in it.  I also plan on adding some just plain pages that include a spot for prayer lists and sermon notes as well.
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Whisper White by Stampin' Up; Patterned Paper: Illustrated Faith She Blooms; Sticker (flower): Illustrated Faith She Blooms; Letter Stickers: Illustrated Faith (pink), Basic Grey (small); embossing folder: Sizzix; enamel heart: Teresa Collins; quote sticker (be fearless)- Illustrated Faith; washi tape: Queen & Co (yellow)

I had so much using this sketch, it made my project so  much easier! If you are not a pocket page scrapbooker and think this site isn't for you, you may want to reconsider, there are so many possibilities with these smaller scale version sketches- cards, embellishments, journaling cards for your traditional scrapbook layouts, planners etc...the list can go on as far as your imagination can dream!!!  I have always been so interested in Bible jounaling by fount it to not be for me (I just can't doodle in my Bible!) and so when I found Cori Spieker's  (The Reset Girl) videos on You Tube I was entranced with her planners, listing, traveler's notebooks etc.  I attended one of her classes and was HOOKED!  Finally, a way to use my scrapbooking/crafting supplies and study my scripture! I am also having fun with her lists and list prompts and have also started a traveler's notebook!  I will share that soon!  I may not be doing everything the way my pal Cori does it but I am putting my own twist on it and having fun with it, which is what is the most important!  I hope to bring you more of my traveler's notebook lists and faith planner soon, so stay tuned!  Don't forget to check out what the other DT members did with the sketch at the Sketches in Thyme Project Lifestyle blog! Be creative friends!
