Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Adventure 2024 ~ January edition!!

Happy New Year! It's 2024 and time to launch another fun year of Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash Adventure! We are excited that you can join us for another fun year of our Great Stash Bash Challenge!! I did not do well on using my kits in 2023, but that is the great thing about a New Year, it's a chance to start anew, so cheers to a new year and a fresh start!! So without further adieu let's kick off the January 2024 edition of Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash 2024!!

For our 2024 challenge here is how it works:
On the 1st of each month we will post a challenge prompt and the stash kit we have created using that prompt. During the month we will try to use as much of our stash kits as possible on different projects. Then, on the last day of the month, we will do a recap post showing what stash we were able to bash!
This will be a just-for-fun challenge so there is no monthly prize - but isn't the real prize using up our stash?  We hope you will join us in our quest to bash some stash in 2024. If you accept the challenge to play along - link up on either my blog or Lori's Blog (or both if you choose) so that we can see who is joining us each month!

Now for our Stash Bash kit recipe for this month:

Now for my January kits:
For this month I chose 2 kits as I have 2 projects I will be working on.

KIT #1:
I plan on making a 6 x 8 Year in Review album for my granddaughter's first year using this fun kit!  I love the fun colors in this kit!

The "A" sides of the papers:
This kit features papers from Simple Stories The Best Year Ever collection.

The "B" sides of the papers:

My embellishments:
The embellishments are stickers and ephemera from Simple Stories The Best Year Ever collection and some fun enamel dots from Doodlebug, Pink Paislee & Simple Stories.

KIT #2:
I plan to use this kit to create a fun mini wedding album for my daughter-in-law's sister who got married this past October.

The "A" sides of the papers:
This kit features papers from the Simple Stories Happily Ever After collection.

The "B" sides of the papers:

The embellishments:
The embellishments from this kit are puffy stickers from Simple Stories Happily Ever After collection, stickers from Scrapbook Customs, a 12 x 12 sticker sheet, tags and cut apart cards all from the Simple Stories Happily Ever After collection.

My stash bash items:
I picked these 3 fun 6 x 8 paper pads from: Simple Stories Year in Review collection, Simple Stories Happily Ever After collection & Elle's Studio ledger paper collection

Here are the rules for 2024:
Each month we will create a kit with 10 or more papers (dig into your stash for new or old papers it's up to  you!), 5-7 scrap papers (let's keep those scrap piles under control!), 3-4 embellishments (new or old- you decide), and a stash bash item!  This month's stash bash item is :
6 x 8 or 6 x 6 paper pads!!
1. Follow the challenge prompt to create a kit to work with throughout the month. You may use other items, but try to concentrate on using your kit.
2. Create new, not previously posted projects using your stash kit.
3. If you have a blog - please include the challenge graphic & a link to our challenge in your posts.
4. You may link to social media if you don't have a blog. If you share on Instagram, please make sure to use - #lisaandlorisgreatstashbash2024
Since this is a just for fun challenge the rules are not set in stone BUT we have them to help you focus on what really matters using your stash!  We also hope you will help spread the word of our fun challenge so others may join in!!  You know you have at least one friend who needs to use her stash!!

I am super excited to dig into my fun kit this month!! I hope you will join Lori and myself as we endeavor to bash some stash!  Remember if you play along make sure and use the hashtag #lisaandlorisgreatstashbash2024.  I can't wait to see your kit!  If you create a kit link up below to share with us all!!  Happy creating!!

Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash Adventure ~ October edition!

Happy October!  My favorite month is here!! YAY!!  September sure flew by and unfortunately I did not make much of a dent in my September kit 😞  However, it's a new month with a chance to start fresh AND that means it's time for a new edition of The Great Stash Bash Adventure with Lisa & Lori!! So without further adieu let's get the party started with the October edition of Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash 2022!!

For those who are new to the challenge here is how it works:
On the 1st of each month we will post a challenge prompt and the stash kit we have created using that prompt. During the month we will try to use as much of our stash kits as possible on different projects. Then, on the last day of the month, we will do a recap post showing what stash we were able to bash!
This will be a just-for-fun challenge so there is no monthly prize - but isn't the real prize using up our stash?  We hope you will join us in our quest to bash some stash in 2022. If you accept the challenge to play along - link up on either my blog or Lori's Blog (or both if you choose) so that we can see who is joining us each month!

Now for our October Challenge:

For this month's stash bash item I kept it simple and just picked one set of ephemera!  I have TONS of ephemera to use up but I wanted to simplify in hopes of actually using up my kit this month!  It seems the more choices I have the less I use lol!!

This month I am going to be working with just ONE kit!
Here is my October kit:
This kit is digging DEEP into my stash to pull out some VERY OLD papers and combine them with some new ephemera, stamps and stickers!!

Close up of my favorite side of the papers:
These papers are from :Studio Calico (orange, green, & pink dots); October Afternoon (blue lines, yellow grid, multi chevron & word print); Basic Grey (circle & pink) and Sassafras Lass (ice cream cones).  Since this kit is CIRCUS themed I thought these papers really fit that theme!  It will feel good to actually use these papers up, most have been in my stash for over 15 years!  In fact, most of these companies are no longer in business, WOW!

Close up of the "B" sides of my papers:
Some of these sides don't really work with my circus theme but I think some will!

Close up of my embellishments:
My ephemera pieces are all from a new kit called STEP RIGHT UP from Illustrated Faith.  The ephemera pieces came in this ADORABLE little peanut sack!!   The stamps, tickets, and sticker sheets are also all from the Illustrated Faith Step Right Up kit. I also included some brads from October Afternoon and some old buttons and wood veneer I thought went well with this kit!  This kit from Illustrated Faith has a devotional that is included and I am planning to do this devotional by my friend Lisa Stander in October.  I plan to make a "junk journal" of sorts for my notes and plan to bind the devotional (see below) and some more papers for note taking using my cinch!  I plan to use all the above embellishments to decorate my home made junk journal notebook!  I have not yet used my cinch so I am excited to dust it off and make a fun journal this month!! Wish me luck!!

Here are the rules for 2022:
Each month we will create a kit with 10 or more papers (dig into your stash for new or old papers it's up to  you!), 5-7 scrap papers (let's keep those scrap piles under control!), 3-4 embellishments (new or old- you decide), and a stash bash item!  This month's stash bash item is EPHEMERA!!
If you share on Instagram, please make sure to use - #lisaandlorisgreatstashbash2022
Since this is a just for fun challenge the rules are not set in stone BUT we have them to help you focus on what really matters using your stash!  We also hope you will help spread the word of our fun challenge so others may join in!!  You know you have at least one friend who needs to use her stash!!
I didn't do so well on using my stash last month, however, I plan to finish up a few projects I started with last month's kit but never completed in the next week or so and will then share an update on what I was able to bash with last month's kit!!

I am super excited to dig into my fun kit this month!! I hope you will join Lori and myself as we endeavor to bash some stash!  Remember if you play along make sure and use the hashtag #lisaandlorisgreatstashbash2022.  I can't wait to see your kit!  If you create a kit link up below to share with us all!!  Happy creating!!

This month I am back to just one kit!
My May kit:
Can you tell I am still on a Crate Paper kick??  I don't know why but I just love the vintage vibe of Crate Paper, in fact, there is nothing Crate Paper I haven't liked!!  So this month I stuck with Crate Paper but this time will be trying to use up the Marigold line I bought a while back and have been hoarding!!

A close up of my favorite side of the papers:
All papers are from the Crate Paper Marigold line except one which is from the Crate Paper Magical Forest line (bottom dark green paper).

A close up of the back side of the papers:
Even the back sides of these papers are amazing, it makes it hard to pick a favorite side!

My embellishments, including this month's stash bash item my enamel dots:
I have a mix of ephemera and stickers this month for my embellishments.  The stickers are from the Crate Paper Marigold & Fresh Bouquet lines and Jen Hadfield's 5th Avenue line which I think coordinates well with my papers!  The ephemera packs are from Pink Fresh Studios Days of Splendor, Fancy Pants Yellow Door and The Gr8tful Chick's Project Gr8tful collection by Illustrated Faith from November of 2021.

Stash Bashing

For a few years now I have been working on bashing my stash and not buying as much, each year I get more successful and find new ways of organizing my stash to help me use it.  I feel that this year has been my best to date!! I have joined a challenge group on Facebook called Bash your Scrapbook Stash and they are having a Super Bash Bowl challenge  this month that I have been participating in.  Basically every week we are given a challenge that is worth 7 points if you complete all the items for the challenge.  Each item has a point value assigned to it, so you can chose to do all of the challenge items to get the full 7 points or just a few of them but you will get less points.   I have made 2 layouts so far for this challenge, my goal is to do 4 and since the challenge ends Saturday I had better get a move on 😊  Today I thought I would share my first 2 layouts with you.
Layout number one: (challenge items: sketch, die cuts, journaling, twine, patterned paper)
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: KI Memories (circle), Crate Paper &Simple Stories; cardstock: CTMH; dies: Lawn Fawn (snowflakes); ephemera: Simple Stories Freezin' Season; stickers: Simple Stories Freezin' Season, letter stickers; American Craft Thickers; journal box: Elle's Studio; enamel dots: My Mind's Eye.

Layout number two: (Challenge items: sketch, washi, phrase, travel, ephemera)
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Echo Park & Simple Stories Travel notes; emphemera: Simple Stories Travel Notes; stickers: Simple Stories Travel Notes; enamel dots: My Mind's Eye; Letter Stickers: Cosmo Cricket & American Crafts Thickers
I sure was able to bash a lot of older stash on these 2 layouts, that KI Memories stitched scallop circle paper is at least 12 years OLD!! I loved it then and still really liked it just never knew what to use it for and since the sketch in challenge #1 called for a circle I felt it was a great time to use it!! I also used up the scraps from my June Flavors of the Month kit at The Scraproom.  I am down to very little left from this June line and hope to create 2 more cards to completely finish it off.  I hope to be back this weekend to share the other 2 layouts I plan to create for this challenge so stay tuned!  If you are interested in bashing some stash you may want to check out this fun group, they have some amazing challenges to help you get motivated to use your stash!  Happy creating!
