Dream Come True

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Did you get to scrap? I did, but haven't taken pics of all the layouts I did....had hoped to do it today, but it is cloudy and maybe going to rain all day, so not sure when I will get to it. Is it still winter in your neck of the woods? We are very springlike, had a super mild winter, and I doubt we will see any snow from here on out. I was inspired to make this layout based on a challenge over at My Scraps and More for their My Scraps Idol search. The challenge was to use a singer's name first and last and then use something on your layout that begins with each letter in their name. I used BRUNO MARS mainly because if you used the same artist that the challenge leader, Lisa M. used then you got an extra 10 points! The winner is based on whoever accumulates the most points by doing the most challenges, and most challenges had bonus points like this one did. Very fun challenges, but I was only able to play along for this one due to time constraints. So for my items for Bruno's name I used: B= buttons R= ribbon (flower was made from ribbon) U= upper crest punch (used to make journal box) N= number stickers O= one photo M= Maya Road envelope A= alphabet stickers R= rhinestones (one the circles on the envie) and S= Stella Rose papers (the My Mind's Eye Collection I used for this layout). There you have it. I found that I started with my basic layout and then went back and started adding in things for my letters I was missing, which made it a lot of fun! I didn't think I was going to be able to pull it off at first, couldn't think of anything for U then remembered my punch and the problem was solved! U is hard letter! You should definitely hop on over to My Scraps and More to check out all the fun layouts created for these challenges PLUS in March they are doing a month long Scraplifting fun does that sound! So be looking for some scraplifts here on the old blogo in the future! This layout that I created in my effort to use up some older kits (as inspired by my scrappy friend Amy) is of my niece meeting Snow White at Casa Manana on her first visit there. She was so in love with Snow White at the time that when it was her turn to talk to her, she just froze and stared! It was so cute, the line moved very fast, so I was plesed I got this pic, cuz you only got one chance to snap one! Story of my life on that, sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you don't, but hey, its all about scrappin' the memory anyway, right? Happy Monday everyone!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day friends! Just wanted to pop in to share a Valentine's layout I created over the weekend. This layout uses the FAB Personalscrapper February kit featuring Basic Grey's Kissing Booth! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this line! Super fun to work with and the colors are divine! This is one of my all time favorite Personalscrapper kits of all time! If you hurry you may be able to lay your hands on one HERE! This my son and myself last July 4th, notice my pool hair, but hey, in 100 + degree heat who has a good hair day?! lol! I made this layout for the week six, 52 week challenge by Wendy, who challenged us to use a "new" technique. I was stumped for awhile and then decided to try to add some "zing" to my layout by matting my papers in black after seeing THIS blog post and noticing a lot layouts where the artists have done this. I decided this qualified as a technique, and I have to say I really like the result, may try it again soon. The stamped quote is from Technique Tuesday stamp set by Ali Edwards, don't you just LOVE her handwriting? (swoon) The letter stickers are Thickers by American Crafts and the rest is included in the Personalscrapper kit and is from Basic Grey...ooh, I did add some Magic Mesh (remember that from waaaaay back) to give my layout some texture...I had planned on stamping a grid, but it didn't show up well on the dark background and my vanilla ink pad was dry and I didn't have a reinker, so I was able to use up some of my magic mesh, so glad I didn't destash it last year when I was destashing! I hope everyone enjoys their Valentine's Day with those they love, we are real low key here tonight, just some yummy pizza and enoying time watching The Big Bang Theory together! We love Sheldon! Please share your Valentine's layouts/projects in the comments, I'd love to see them!

Great new sketch site!

A few days ago while doing a little late night surfing I found a fun new sketch site! It seems as if a number of my favs have closed up lately, so I was excited to find a new site to participate on. They are currently having a DT call and I have decided to throw my hat into the ring. I really liked the sketch and when I first saw it I kept going back to this picture of my son and parents at last year's church Trunk or Treat and even though I wasn't really in the mood to scrap Halloween pics, I decided to go ahead and do it! I used up a lot of my older stash here, patterned papers by Making Memories, Pebbles, Doodlebug and some newer stash thrown in from Bella Blvd. The embellies are a mix of old and new, stickers by Bella Blvd, Doodlebug and KI Memories. Journaling spot by Jillibean Soup and scallop spot by Jenni Bowlin. The letters stickers are from an old old kit I had used up and have had these stickers on my desk FOREVER, dont even know who makes them, but I really like them, but they are over 5 years old for sure! lol! I like the way this layout turned out and plan to continue to play along at Let's Get Sketchy when I can whether I make the DT or not! There is another fun sketch up as well, so make sure and check them out, plus they are doing an awesome giveaway, so I know you will want to go become a follower and Facebook fan ASAP so you don't miss out and all the fun! Hope to see you there!

Winter remembered!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone! I can't believe last February around Super Bowl time this is what our roads were looking like! Today is a bit cold (last week we had a few days in the 70's believe it or not) but it is dry and definitely NOT anything like these winter drive pics! This layout is for the Week 1 challenge over at Personalscrapper for the 52 weeks 2012 challenges! (I know I am not going in order!) I am trying to use up a some of my older kits and this layout uses all stuff from the January 2011 Personalscrapper kit featuring Echo Park Wintertime papers and letter stickers! The only thing I added from my stash were these felt snowflakes by Stampin Up! I loved this kit and am now officially down to scraps (except for one darn full sheet, I just love the snowflake pattern and am having a hard time forcing myself to cut it! lol! Are you ever like that about some really pretty papers?). I don't usually take pics of stuff like this, but this really was a record breaking snowfall here in Texas (I know you folks up North, think it looks like nothing) but I wanted to record it so I can look back a year later and think, boy, was that a mess that was! Plus I really wanted to try out the new cell phone camera too! lol! I am so thankful for the milder winter this year! Mr.Groundhog did predict another 6 weeks of winter, though, so we may get hit with some snow yet. Hope you enoy the Super Bowl today, we are split house here, I'm going for the Giants and my son is going for the Patriots, oh, well, either way one of us will win right? Enjoy cheering on your team!
