Sketch N Scrap card sketch #117

Sketch N Scrap has their first card sketch for the month up!  This is such a fun and versatile sketch that Heather has created for us!  Here is the sketch:

Here is my card using the sketch:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Stampin' Up whisper white & basic black; Patterned Paper:Fancy Pants, Stampin' Up & Bella Blvd Gratitude Documented; dies: CTMH- thanks and hearts; ink- CTMH black

I used ONLY scraps for this card!  I have a scrap basket on my desk and my goal is to not get it so it every now and gain I sit down and create cards with the's funny how I  have thrown all scraps into this not to big basket from ALL my projects since last October and yet I was able to get these papers to coordinate with very little effort!! In fact, the one heart (Khaki colored smaller heart) was so small the heart die barely fit on it, but so glad I saved it as it coordinated great with these papers! This sketch is so versatile and a great one to use up some fact I just might hit my scrap desk this evening and make another card using this sketch...stay tuned!  I hope you will hop over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to see what the other DT members did with this sketch...or better yet, why not give it a whirl, I'd love to see what you create!!!  You have until the end of March to link up your projects using any of our 4 sketches to get a chance to win a fabulous birthday prize package!!
Be creative!

March Flavors of the Month kit- American Crafts Stay Colorful!

Good morning friends!  Today I am excited to share my layout created using the Flavors of the month kit at The ScrapRoom!!!  Here is the kit:

The layout I am sharing today was created with this part of the kit and features American Crafts' Stay Colorful papers and embellishments!  It is so pretty!

Here is my layout I created using this beautiful kit:
Supplies used: Patterned Paper- American Crafts Stay Colorful- from the kit; ephemera: American Crafts Stay Colorful- from the kit; acrylic butterfly- American Crafts Stay Colorful- from the kit; cardstock- Bazzill- from my stash; enamel dots: Elle's Studio- from my stash; letter stickers: American Crafts Thickers (blue) & Elle's Studio (pink); flag: American Crafts Stay Colorful- from the embellishment kit.
I knew exactly what pictures to use with this kit when I saw these adorable pictures of my friend's daughter and her friend!  Their dresses coordinately beautifully with these papers!  I also tried out something new- American Crafts prints a pattern the entire length of one side of their branding strips, so I used them by adhering them to a piece of cardstock to make a border for below my pictures!  I love it that the entire piece of paper is usable!!  How cool is that?  The fun flag from the embellishment kit is just one of the many amazing embellishments in this kit! This kit is a must have for us embellishment lovers!!!   Here is this fun kit:
If you are interested in this month's Flavors of the Month kit make sure and stop by The ScrapRoom store to reserve yours today!  And don't forget to hop on over to the ScrapRoom blog to see what inspiring layouts the other DT members have created with this amazing kit!  Happy creating!

February Flavors of the Month kit- Photo Play Vintage Girl!

Time to share another layout with you today that I created using the February Flavors of the Month kit from The ScrapRoom!  Here is the amazing kit:
Every month The ScrapRoom also has a fun sketch challenge along with other inspiring challenges for the members to play along with.  This month it was my turn to create a sketch for us to play along with!  Here is the sketch I created for the February Jump Start Sketch Challenge:

And here is my layout using the sketch and Photo Play Vintage Girl
Supplies Used: card stock: white and rose- from my stash & black- from my kit; Patterned Paper: Photo Play Vintage Girl- from the kit; stickers: Photo Play Vintage Girl- from the kit; Ephemera: Photo Play Vintage Girl- from the embellishment kit; dies: circle and scallop- from my stash (Stampin' Up); cameras: cut from one of the kit papers; enamel dots- My Mind's Eye- from my stash.
As you can see I stayed pretty true to the sketch.  I had a lot of fun fussy cutting these cameras from one of the fun papers in the kit, they made the perfect embellishment!  I also used one of the quote circles from the embellishment kit for my title, fast, easy and super cute!  Here is the fun embellishment kit for this month:

These papers were perfect for the photos of my BFF's dear sweet daughter's first day of school this past Fall!  She growing up so fast, I remember when this adorable girl was born, how time flies!   Make sure and come play along with our sketch challenge this month at The ScrapRoom, we can't wait to see what you create!

Sketch N Scrap's Queen of Hearts crop!!!!

Happy weekend!  I hope your weekend has included at least a little crafty time!  We are cropping again over at Sketch N Scrap!  We started our Queen of Hearts Crop yesterday and today I am sharing Challenge #2 with our croppers!  Today's challenge is to create a card using Sketch #19- here is the sketch:

And here is my card using this fun sketch:
Supplies Used: cardstock: Stampin' Up- whisper white & basic black; Patterned Paper: Echo Park Just be You; enamel dots: Elle's Studio; doily: Stampin' Up; sticker: Simple Stories Romance; punch: heart- Stampin' Up; glitter paper- CTMH.

I had so much fun creating this card using ALL SCRAPS!!  I really wanted to use this sticker I had left over from my February ScrapRoom kit featuring the Simple Stories Romance line and since I didn't have any paper from that collection left over I was happy to find the scraps from my Echo Park Just Be You collection coordinated perfectly!  I also had this heart left from a previous Valentine's Day card I made last week, so this card came to together very quickly.  I love how it turned out and most of all I know I will be using this fun sketch again real soon!  You could use a heart, star, or really ANY shape to replace the doily!  I hope you will join us at the Queen of Hearts Crop this month, it's going on until February 28th so there is still plenty of time to play along!!  Hope to see you in the crop room!

100 Paper challenge!!

This is a post I intended to do the first of the year, but as often is the case even the best laid plans will get way laid at times when life gets in the way!! Such was the case here!  I had planned to do a monthly update and start the challenge on January 1st but here I am just now posting about my fun challenge!  But better late then never!  I originally learned about this challenge 2 years ago from my crafty friend Lori but while I did take part in this challenge in 2016 I didn't do a very good job of keeping track of my papers so I am not exactly sure how many papers I ended up using (my last count was 39 but I know I did use more then that) but nonetheless this challenge was really an epic fail between me not keeping track and not being intentional about using my papers!  This year I am kicking it up a notch and starting the challenge anew!!!  One thing I realized was I didn't have the right tools or organizational structure to really track my progress or keep my papers at my fingertips!  The other issue was I got tired of the same 100 papers (lol) and since I am for the most part a seasonal scrapper (I scrap Summer pages in Summer and Christmas layouts at Christmas time) I decided to allow myself to change up my papers as the seasons change.  Hey, it's my challenge so I can make up the rules I want!!!  So with all this said here is what I have come up with:  I have purchased a Totally Tiffany cart to hold my 100 papers for this challenge:
I have picked the following collections to start my challenge with: Simple Stories Winter Wonderland. American Crafts Sweater Weather, Echo Park Winter Park, Echo Park Wintertime, Fancy Pants Frosted, Simple Stories Love & Adore, Echo Park Head Over Heels, Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine, Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello, Carta Bella It's a Celebration, Simple Stories Happy Days, CTMH Whimsy, CTMH Fundamentals Basics, & Crate Paper Wedding Line (not sure of name).  This is a grand total of 138 papers!!  As you can see many of these are Winter or Love themed for January and February, starting in March I will revamp my paper choices and remove those Winter/Love lines I didn't use and add some Spring papers to take their place.  Almost all of the papers I added are more then 3 years old, but some are more current and ones I want to use up due to storage issues (not enough room in that manufacturers Iris container any more lol!).   I have started a Carpe Diem planner this year and I have made this insert to keep track of the papers as I use them:
My goal is to use 100 papers in ONE YEAR, so that is about 8-9 papers a month!  Of course some months I will use more then others so the plan is it evens out!
Now for embellishments- I have a lot of older embellishments to use up as well (don't we all?) and I have organized them in the bins/drawers on the opposite side of my cart:

Here is the close up of the cart bin I am using for my Winter/Love season:
I have all the basics like cork hearts and washi tape to fit my themes PLUS I have sorted embellishments that go with the various lines into the bins so I can easily locate them as I work.  I have also selected a few stamp sets I want to use either more or for the first time and that fit my themes/paper lines.  I hope to "bash" 15 items out of this bin each month!  Here is my insert for my planner to help me track this goal:
So far I was able to use up about 5 papers in January which was not a very good start! I did end up bashing 10 items from my cart in January which was a better start but still I didn't hit my goal!  So it's a new month and I am hopeful to come closer to my goal each month!!  You can see my original post about starting this challenge in 2016 HERE!  Now all goals are easier to achieve if you allow yourself a reward for working hard to achieve that goal! So each month I will be posting about my progress and picking a reward for meeting mini goals along the way to help me be successful in achieving my MAIN OVERALL GOAL: To use up 100 patterned papers!!!!  So I will start now February 10th and do my first update on February 28th then starting with an update on the last day of each month to track my progress for the month.  My goal for this month is to use 8 papers and 11 embellishments in my bin!!!! Which is an increase from January.  My reward for this month will be: A Simple Stories traveler's notebook cover from their new releases. You can see the new releases to just decide which one I want, they are all so cute!  So who is going to join me in this fun challenge?  Comment below if you would like to join me and we can keep each accountable and motivate each other! Happy crafting!
