More sketch goodness!

I just realized I hadn't shared my layout inspired by sketch #18 from 52 sketches/52 weeks. I am really becoming a circle lover because of this site! I love October Afternoon papers and embellishments and knew just what I wanted to do with this Home Sweet Home sticker when I first saw it, it just took me a few months to actually Git'R dun! The letters and swirls were cut on the Cricut using the Graphically Speaking cartridge. What inspired me to get this layout done finally was the Mother's Day crop at Personalscrapper. The challenge was to use a definition on your page, and I immediately thought of these stickers and voila! I was inspired to put thought to paper! Off to go work on some cards tonight, gotta get them in the mail for some upcoming birthdays and anniversaries before I leave on vacation! Keep checking in, I'll try to share them here soon!

Git 'R Done Wednesday with a another challenge!

Its me again with another Git R Done Wednesday post. This double pager is another layout completed towards the 10 total I need to do to be entered into the drawing at Personalscrapper to win that Slice! 2 down, 8 to go! LOL! This challenge was to be a page or pages about one of your greatest achievements. I decided to feature my college graduation from physical therapy school. I used the May 2008 Personalscrapper kit featuring papers by Chatterbox. I like the simplicity of it. I was able to capture a few funny stories from my 2yrs in physical therapy school in my journaling. I am glad I was able to put them to paper now, as I'm not getting any younger and it seems like when I first started my journaling I couldn't think of one thing to say, then I remembered a funny story about how I was practicing a specific technique on my Aunt (who had graciously volunteered to be my "patient") that was to help reduce pain in the shoulder and guess what? Instead of making her shoulder (which wasn't really injured to begin with) feel better I made it actually hurt for days..so instead of helping her I made her worse YIKES! We still get a good laugh out of that so many years later and once I put that story to paper I started remembering so many many more that I had to create TWO journaling spots on my layout to fit them all in. Needless to say, all the schooling did actually pay off, I am not making my patients worse any more but I do tend to help them not hurt them now! LOL! I think it is a good thing to take a little time and complete some pages about yourself for a change, your kids will appreciate it. I think they are more interested in their parents and their younger years then they are about themselves, after all they lived through their experiences but weren't around for many of your experiences prior to their birth. Even if I don't win that Slice I am so glad I have started doing these challenges about myself. Its actually more fun then I thought it would be! And another tidbit of info, these photos which I had in a shoebox were actually starting to fade, and they are only from 1992, so I am glad I was able to get them stored safely now before they got too much older.

Git 'R Done Wednesday Lucky Edition

It's the LUCKY edition of Git'R Dun Wednesday! This layout was my answer to TWO challenges I wanted to do, and since time is short (kinda like my money these days) I decided to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. I did this challenge for the Inspired Blueprints sketch challenge using sketch #11 and for a Personalscrapper challenge given by Debbie on the PS board. Her challenge was for us to do a layout using the color green and themed around the word LUCKY. Once I heard the word lucky I remembered this die cut I had left in an old old kit that I never had used and decided it was about time to use it. The colors, however where mainly blue not green, so I set about trying to find paper to match this die cut and lo and behold the scraps still on my desk from my last layout matched! Don't you just love it when that happens?! So I used up so more of my Personalscrapper Nov 2008 kit to complete this layout. The letter stickers are once again American Crafts thickers from the March 2009 PS kit, the paper is by We R Memory Keepers the Nonsense line, felt flower by Stampin Up and die cut from Breezy Designs. I really like the green on this layout, it is bright and cheery. I really like these papers from We R Memory Keepers and am now off to make some birthday cards with the left over scraps and I just might be able to EEK out one more layout (or two) but what sketch to use, what pictures to use? That is the million dollar question right now...any input from all you creative genius' out there? If so, leave me a comment to help me along please!

Git 'R Done Wednesday with a sketch

This layout is based on sketch #8 from the 52 sketches/52 weeks website. I took a long time to complete this sketch and had thoughts of skipping it, because truth be known I really don't care for circles. Yes, I am a closet circle hater...no hate mail on this pleez :o) I don't know why I don't care for circles, I just don't. So the thought of a large circle on my page didn't appeal to me, but I had decided a while back I would complete all 52 sketches offered by this amazing site so I forged ahead and guess what? I like it!! It really is surprising if you are forced to work outside your comfort zone what happens. I do like the colors, plus the fact that I got 6 pictures on one page is nice. I used a really old piece of Making Memories paper for the circle and Scenic Route paper from the Metropolis line for the other papers and sticker. Letter stickers are by American Crafts and Making Memories. So now I am off to work on sketch #9 which is due by Sunday for their weekly prize give away, so better get to work on that...and guess what? It features circles too! So who knows before the week is done I may be a big fan of circles after all! I'll make sure and share as soon as I git r done!

Git 'R Done Wednesday and ROFL!

OK, I have had this idea for awhile about doing a layout about the shows I think are too hilarious. My son is always asking me why I watch reruns of the same shows time and time again and then always laugh at the same "lame" jokes. So I decided to do a page documenting my many years of watching these shows and why I always ROFL (roll on floor laughing) when I do. This layout literally took me 20 minutes to put together, but the hardest part was to find and print the pictures of the shows. It wasn't as easy as it sounds. Once that was complete it fell together quickly, even the journaling only took me 10 minutes, however, I was laughing the whole time so I am surprised it didn't take longer! I used the Chatterbox paper from the May 2008 Personalscrapper kit and then a Maya Road journaling sheer for my title. I also found a chipboard rectangle that says giggles on it to add near the top. This was left over from a mini album I did a number of years ago, glad I saved it all those years now! So now when I am 99.5 years old and sitting in my rocking chair drooling and cackling at an old 70 year old episode of Seinfeld you can look back at my scrapbook and see I really don't have dementia, I have always found this episode extremely funny! LOL! I have not seen any show as funny as Seinfeld really, each episode is SO TRUE....its like stuff you thought but were afraid to say cuz its so politcally incorrect! I mean come on, I've been watching it for like 20 years and its still funny. Roseanne on the other hand is funny mind you, but I really only have one episode that makes me ROFL and that is the one called Roseanne in the Hood..no shes' not in a ghetto...she is stuck in an oven hood. And my favorite line is when she tells herself "I'm the smartest one here and I'm stuck in an oven hood" (or words to that effect). The reason she says this is because her sister Jackie is trying to figure out how to unstick her and decides that maybe they should turn on the stove that she is standing on to heat up the hood so it will expand and release her! Now, maybe you aren't laughing right now,but if you hear Roseanne say it, you will believe me be ROFL!!!! Too funny! I'm laughing just thinking about it! My other favs: The Late show with David Letterman and the Simpson Movie. Very funny, very politically incorrect, but fun. Now don't leave me hate mail, if you don't like these shows that's fine with me its a free country. Now I should mention this layout was created for the Personalscrapper Valentine's day crop and no animals or celebrities were harmed by the making of this scrapbook page. Have a nice hump day and go GIT R DONE!

Git 'R Done Wednesday 2009

Welcome to the first Git 'R Done Wednesday for 2009! This page is not as old as most of the pages I have featured. I started this one in 2007 and never finished the journaling or adhering it all down, so now it is done! YEA! I like the big chipboard letters, but covering them with paper was not fun at all..next time I think I will paint them. I do like the colors as they go great with the ball my son is holding. This picture was taken at the Harlem Globetrotters show in 2007 at the American Airlines Center and is my favorite picture of us from 2007. I did scraplift this page which was designed by Amy Yingling for Stampin Up and was featured in the Scrapbook Trends September 2007 edition. I changed it a bit as I didn't have all the stuff she used. I also changed the colors to match my picture, but it really is a lift so I wanted to give proper credit as the original idea is very nice and simple, showcasing the photo well. I apologize for the poor picture quality, but this photo was printed on extra glossy paper and was hard to get a nonglare photo even without the flash, I promise you the colors look better IRL.. thanks for stopping by for Git 'R Done Wednesday...have a wonderful rest of the week!

Git 'R Done Wednesday Cowboy Style!

Well, its that time again, to just Git 'R done! And this week's edition features a fun two page layout I started last year but just didn't really know how to embellish it. I ended up using some of my stamps sets by Stampin' Up and I like the way it turned out. It's a deviation from my normal style of using my favorite patterned paper as well as my fav embellishment of buttons, but hey, its time to use these stamps! I was even able to fit my tickets onto the page, and I like how I was able to use a bunch of pics as well. We had so much fun last year at our first ever Cowboys game and we were able to go again this year too (still need to scrap those pics). Hope to do it again next year at the BRAND NEW Cowboys Stadium. I know my son is excited to see it as am I. So when you are scrapping those sporting events you attend, use a small (or big if needed) pocket as part of you embellishing to keep the memorabilia on the page, it will be neat to look back in 20 years and see how much those tickets cost! (although in this case they were actually free thanks to our WONDERFULLY generous friends ~ Lisa and Chuck, who were are so blessed to know) They are the best and I am still astounded by their generosity in giving us those amazing tickets! Our Got Sketch mini class ended today, but don't worry you can still sign up if you do it within the next few days, you will love it I promise, and best of all its free! What a great gift to yourself this holiday season. So check it out on Valerie's blog: http://gotsketch.blogspot.com/. Enjoy!

Git 'R Done Wednesday seeing double edition!

This page is another Git 'R Wednesday edition started well over 3 years ago. The funny thing about it is this title was glued down already and before I started to rework this page or even pulled it out of the drawer it was in I realized that this title was one I had used on a recent page. de ja vue? I can't believe this is a title I did 3 yrs ago and then thought of again last week, thinking how original and cute it was....guess it was floating out there in my subconscious these last three years huh?! To finish this page I had to add some ribbon to separate the two different papers, as I couldn't find the original paper and believe it or not blacks and browns are not easy to match. I then added only the middle envelope which was actually already in with the page as was the picture. I was able to find the original word bubbles and add the word "baby". I then added the journaling on the tag ( kind of copied my page from last week again) and then added the cute little felt heart that I recently got...it is from Making Memories. All in all, I like the end result. My favorite part is seeing these two boys together 4 years ago in this Cousins friends for life page and then seeing them together in the other Cousins friends for life layout. My how they've grown, but Jake is still holding Ryan! Ryan hasn't gotten to big for Jake to still hold him! Plus, you can see how my scrapbooking style has evolved as well. Soon though I won't have any of these old layouts to finish, cuz now when I start a page I don't start a new one til it is finished! Yeah, for me! Have a wonderful Wednesday and don't forget Friday I will be featuring a really fun blog!

Git 'R Done Wednesday the Shamu Edition!

Here is my Git 'R Done Wednesday page for today. I had glued all the photos down and the title. Nothing else was done and it has been sitting for almost 4 years folks..pitiful I know. Well, I think I had meant to do some journaling under the picture, but I decided it needed some paper and since all the fond memories and minute details I may have journaled then have since escaped my overloaded 40 something brain I decided to just use my FAVORITE ALL TIME mini Making Memories stickers as my journaling. I like the page, just wish I had done the journaling at the time I started it. So did you see that other hint for a Christmas gift idea? Mini stickers, love 'em, use them lots, and they are a perfect page enhancement for any page. I hope they come out with some new colors soon, I would love to see them in red and green for Christmas! I just know I'm gonna get lots of presents this year from everyone reading this! This page didn't take long to finish, but I was happy to get another page out of my junk drawer and into my album! I can even shut the drawer now without too much trouble! Have a happy hump day everyone! The weekend is getting closer and more cropping is calling my name! I will be back Friday with another featured blogger and a special birthday post for a sweet little gal !

Git 'R Done Wednesday ~ Disney Style

Welcome to Git 'R Done Wednesday Disney Style! I hate to admit it but I have not scrapped a single layout from our 2005 Disney trip until now! I have had this layout in my to be completed drawer 1/2 finished with no pictures on it for the last 3 years. I have been waiting for the "RIGHT" paper, the "RIGHT" idea or the "RIGHT" embellishment, cuz of course these will be "SPECIAL" pages. Well, the main goal here is to capture the memory, not get caught up in how "GOOD" or "SPECIAL" my page looks. I do like the way it turned out. I especially like the ticket journaling tag from Maya Road. These are really fun ways to get you to journal fast and use your own handwriting. I plan on starting to slowly work on completing my Disney album. I have enough stuff Disney to complete 3 albums! I just need to put it to good use. I am planning on using some the new sketches from Valerie Salmon...she has added to and expanded her website "GOT SKETCH?" Go check it out, the new gallery is really great and she even has a giveaway going on! What more motivation do you need then a give away? Speaking of which, stay tuned for a new addition to my blog on Saturday....hint hint....it starts with the letter "S"!

Another Git 'R Done Wednesday Creation

Welcome to Git 'R Done Wednesday! Featured today is a page that was partially assembled in a Rusty Pickle class at CKC. The reason I didn't complete it was because I really didn't care for the crazy layout and all the busy paper, but fast forward 8 mos and now I take it out, look at it and decide I love the paper and the colors. Go figure! It's not a traditional July fourth layout, but this photo looked so good on it and I really didn't have another that went so well. I have already made another partial layout with this pic and some others, but I really have decided to use up these old layouts and finish them. And I love this picture of my son and his cousins so it won't bother me to scrap it twice. The quote is from Dr. Seuss: "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." Now on a different note, I was bummed to wake up and find my coffee maker had died. Now this coffee maker is a legend in my family. It was given to me in 1990 by my cousin Brian as a Christmas gift. I have often wanted a "fancier" one but hated to throw out a good working appliance and get a new one when I didn't really "need" it. Well, last weekend I was bragging to my brother how my coffee maker was still working and it had lasted almost 20 years and then I come home and the first time I try to use it, its broken. Last time I brag about my old stuff! LOL! So this morning and a few more mornings until I have time to replace it I will have to go without my morning coffee, not a pretty sight I tell you! Have a nice Wednesday and hope you get a lot done today!

Git 'R Done Wednesday again

OK...this is a fast and EASY layout. We are having a challenge/contest at Personalscrapper that is geared towards a page a day in October, so when you are done you will have 31 pages if you participate everyday...needless to say today I was strapped for time. We are leaving tomorrow for a short trip and I needed to be packing not scrapping. But I can't resist a challenge, so here is my page for today. Short, easy, but captures the fun of the occasion, which was my son and his friends last outing together before school started back up this year. This is a page that I had got at a class (can't even remember which one) and never even worked on more than to cut out the arrows and dot the buttons. I did not follow the design taught in the class exactly, but it suited these pics well. And I FINALLY used a page I made (or should have made) in a class. I tend to go to the class, do very little and leave with the stuff, stick it in a drawer and never look at it again, but now that I am weeding out and cleaning this "junk" drawer I plan on finding a way to USE all the class layouts, even the ones I didn't really "LIKE". Have a good rest of the week and when I check back in again, you might be seeing red...cuz we're heading to BIG RED country tomorrow! YEA!

Git 'R Done Wednesday

I think we all have a stack of half completed projects laying around somewhere. Well, I decided to clean out my "junk" drawer last weekend and found a bunch of semi-completed layouts. I am sure I had some brilliant idea for each and every one of them at some time. However, that idea has since been replaced by 1000 other ideas completed or not completed. I made it a goal to get these things FINISHED...somehow....someway....so Wednesdays are my day to do that until such a time when I have no half completed things lying around anymore...and believe you me, that is going to be as they say a month of Wednesdays from now. So here is my first completed 1/2 finished project I found lying on the top of my drawer...started July 2007....finished Sept. 2008! I didn't have a whole lot of time to finish this either as Wednesday's are also family game night at our house. Tonight it was Monopoly that is the JR version, which takes a lot less time, especially if you play with me. I ran out of money on my third time around the board and lost... and so here is a picture of Jakob throwing up all his ill gotten gains from his poor broke mommy.
