Card sketch #154

Happy weekend!  I'm so glad to have a fun day to just create and kick back!  It's SOOO hot here, does not feel like Fall at all so it's an inside day for sure!  Today I am sharing my card and sketch created for the September 20th challenge at Sketch N Scrap!  Here is the sketch:

My card based on the sketch:
Supplies Used: Card stock: CTMH; embossing folder: CTMH; Patterned Paper: Doodlebug Designs Flea Market; Ephemera: Doodlebug Designs Flea Market.
I just love this Fall line from a few years ago by Doodlebug Designs!  The name is also so fun- Flea Market!!  I have been hoarding this paper and it's time to use it up so I can buy myself one of the newer Fall lines!  I love the look of an embossed background and thought this leaf embossing folder was a perfect match for my papers!  I need to use this embossing folder more frequently so you may be seeing it on upcoming projects!  I hope you will find time to join us at Sketch N Scrap this month!  Make sure and hop on over to the blog to check out what the other DT members did with this sketch!  Happy creating!

This is our attempt at a selfie in front of the fountain on The Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri this past August.  It is hard to take a selfie with someone who is a full foot taller then you lol!  My son was a good sport though as he is not a fan of selfies but knew I wanted to document this trip of us.  It was super hot that day and the sun was so bright so not the best picture taking conditions but that just adds to the special memories we made!  My son was born in Kansas City but we moved to Texas when he was just 4 months old.  He was interning this Summer in Kansas City so it was the perfect opportunity to visit him and show him the city in which he was born!!  Once again I combined scraps from multiple lines to made my spread and I was super excited to see how these lines all combined together!  The sticker sheet from the Simple Stories Travel Notes line is so fun but I didn't have any papers left from that line so I had to combine the stickers with other papers and I was super pleased at how well these stickers combined with the other lines of which I had no embellishments left over!  It's definitely a fun challenge to try and use up left overs in this fashion!!
For Lori's challenge I used hearts, ephemera, a label, and polka dots (green paper)

This month we have a little bonus for you as well~ we have a Guest Designer playing along with us!  Our Guest Designer this month is Sandi Pressley!
Here is a bit about Sandi:  Hi, I am Sandi Pressley from Palm Coast, Florida which is on the east coast of the state between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. I am recently retired from selling roofing and building materials and am enjoying my retirement so far more than I even imagined. I have been a paper crafter for nearly 13 years now. I love all size canvases from cards to 12x12 traditional layouts. This year I started my personal memory keeping of life with my wonderful and crazy husband in a Traveler’s Notebook and I must say, I really love this size. The pages come together quickly especially when using one of Lisa’s awesome sketches and paired with a fun challenge from Lori.
I was born and raised in Chicago. When Dave and I were married in 2003 we moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where we lived for 4 years until moving to Florida. I have two sons that still live in the Chicago area and they have given me 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 18 to 8...... Jake, Cole, Abby and Izzy. Their pictures and activities fill the scrapbooks on my shelves.
Besides crafting, I like to read, go out to lunch with friends, go to the gym and research future home improvements to keep my husband busy on the weekends. We are soon to become dog parents to a French Bulldog puppy. This layout is the first of many I am sure I will create about our new little girl.
Thanks to Lisa and Lori for inviting me to guest design here this month. I had a lot of fun working with the sketch and challenge.
Here is Sandi's layout using the sketch and Lori's challenge:

Now it's your turn I can't wait to see what you create!  One randomly selected winner will win this fun set of Layered Heart stickers from Pinkfresh Studios!!!  They will make the perfect accents for your TN or scrapbook pages!
We did not have our minimum of 3 players for our last challenge so there are no winner this month. THANKS for stopping by my blog, I hope you are inspired to play along with me this month!!!   Happy creating!!

Sketch N Scrap card sketch #153

TGIF!!  Today I am sharing my card made using the September 5th card sketch at Sketch N Scrap!  Here is the super versatile sketch by sketch artist Heather:

Here is my card using the sketch:
Supplies Used: Card stock: Very Vanilla & Night of Navy- Stampin' Up; Patterned Paper: Crate Paper Willow Lane & Pink Paislee Horizon; sticker: Crate Paper Willow Lane; ink: Night of Navy- Stampin' Up; stamp: Stampin' Up
I really loved this sketch because it was so easy to use!  I can see myself using it time and time again.  This card literally took 10 minutes to make!  I used only scraps to make this card.  One night I decided to dump out my scrap bin and sort my scraps..ugghhh...talk about more time consuming then planned! Well, I ended up realizing how some of these scraps coordinated and decided to make up mini "kits" using my scraps of ones that I could use together on cards and other projects.  This took a LONG time to do but is paying off because I am able to make cards a lot faster since I don't have to dig around trying to match up my scrap papers! I hope it helps me get rid of some of my scraps, I swear I could make cards for a year using just scraps - that's how many I have!!  This sticker was one in my basket since this sheet is 3/4 used up.  I am on a mission to get some of these straggler stickers used up as well!  Make sure and head over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to see what the other DT members did with this sketch!  I hope you have a creative weekend!!

September Flavors of the month kit ~ Carta Bella Fall Market!

Does it feel like Fall where you are at yet?  It sure doesn't here in Texas, it is record breaking temperatures with heat indexes in the 100's today!!  Fall is my favorite season but it's hard to dream about Fall today when it is so hot!  However, the September Flavors of the month kit from The ScrapRoom has an amazing Fall feel and has really got me in the mood to think about Fall and it's amazing colors!
Here is the kit:
Here is the Carta Bella Fall Market kit my layout is based on:

Here is my layout using this stunning kit:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: Vanilla- from the kit; Patterned Paper: Carta Bella Fall Market- from the kit; stickers: Carta Bella Fall Market- from the kit; dies (circle & Scallop): Stampin' Up- from my stash; enamel dots: My Mind's Eye- from my stash
I loved this fun pick up truck and knew I had to use it on my layout! These are pictures from our trip to Vala's Pumpkin Patch.  We go every year and have since 2004....it is so fun!  Once my nephew outgrows it I think I will still go by myself lol! Nothing feels like Fall more then visiting the pumpkin patch and going on a hay rack ride!  Make sure and hop on over to the ScrapRoom blog to check out the other amazing layouts the DT created with this kit!  Happy creating!

Sketch N Scrap #184

Happy Hump Day!!  Today I am sharing a fun layout I created with the September Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom using the September 1st sketch at Sketch N Scrap.  Here is the September Flavors of the month kit:

Here is the American Crafts Field Trip collection by Shimelle that I used for today's layout:

Here is the sketch my layout is based on by yours truly:

And here is my layout:
Supplies Used: cardstock: white- from the kit; Patterned Paper: Shimelle Field Trip- from the kit; ephemera: Shimelle Field Trip- from the kit; Epoxy word & epoxy shapes: Shimelle Field Trip- from the kit; word strip stickers: Shimelle Field Trip- from the embellishment kit
I just loved this fun line!  It is so whimsical and so good for so many occasions.  Since I got a dinosaur in my kit I immediate thought of these pictures of my nephew last year at the Fort Worth Science Museum in the dino dig area...he loved it.  I had a hard time thinking of how to incorporate the word "seriously" that came in my kit into my layout but finally decided on printing out my own word strip.  I printed the word "Dino-mite" and then added it on top the dinosaur.  I love how it turned out!!  I had stamped the date on my library card but it smeared all over the place for some reason so I covered it up with the "get messy" word strip and printed out the date and the place on my computer....there is always a way to fix those boo-boos!!  I hope you will hop on over to the Sketch N Scrap blog and The ScrapRoom blog to check out what the other DT members did with this fun sketch and kit!! Happy creating!!
