Rewind Card challenge at Sketch N Scrap!!

TGIF!!  Today I am participating in another Rewind challenge on the Sketch N Scrap Facebook page!  This is a new challenge for 2021 where we challenge our participants to create a layout or card based on an older sketch.  This month our Rewind card challenge is to create a card based on card sketch #110!!  Here is the card sketch from 2017 created by yours truly:

Here is my card created using the sketch:
Supplies Used: card stock: Whisper white & Basic Black- Stampin' Up; Patterned Paper: Carta Bella Winter Market; puffy stickers: Paper House Productions; ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; stamp: CTMH Love with all the Trimmings; Pen: Le Pen

I got these puffy stickers a while back but have been hoarding them, I think they are so adorable!  I decided to put them to good use (I can always buy more right??!!)  These papers were scraps I had left over from my January Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom.  The beautiful blues and blue green give such a nice Winter feel to this card!  I hope you can join in our fun challenge this month!!  You have until January 31st to play along!!  To enter visit the Sketch N Scrap Facebook group HERE!

January Jumpstart Sketch at The ScrapRoom

Happy Hump Day!  Today I am sharing another layout I created with the January Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom!  Here is a reminder of the full kit:

Here is the Carta Bella Winter Market Kit I used for today's layout:

I also used the January Jumpstart sketch to create today's layout:

Here is my layout using the Flavors of the Month kit & the sketch:
Supplies Used: Card stock: Black- from the kit; Patterned Paper: Carta Bella Winter Market- from the kit; letter stickers: Paper Trunk (work) & American Craft Thickers (Play); enamel dots: Carta Bella Winter Market- from the kit: date stamp: Heidi Swapp- from my stash; chipboard: Carta Bella Winter Market- from the embellishment kit; ink: Memento Tuxedo Black- from my stash; ephemera: (word strip): Carta Bella Winter Market- from the kit; black pen: LePen

I stuck to the sketch pretty closely as you can see.  The only deviation was that I used one of the cute cut apart cards from the kit in place of one of the photos.  I love the Winter feel of these papers and to make them pop even more I outlined all of them in black pen!  This photo is of my brother and nephew clearing some snow from their drive way in 2019!  What a lot of snow!  Make sure and head over to The ScrapRoom blog to check out what the other DT members did with this kit and sketch!  Happy creating!

Double Page Fun with the January Flavors of the Month kit!

Happy weekend!! Today I am sharing a double page layout I created with the January Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom!  Here is a reminder of the kit:

Here is the Echo Park Coffee & Friends mini kit I am using on today's layout:

Here is my layout using this fun kit:
Supplies Used: Cardstock: White- from the kit; Patterned Paper: Echo Park Coffee & Friends- from the kit; stickers: Echo Park Coffee & Friends- from the kit; letter stickers: PinkFresh Studio (TIMES) & American Craft Thickers (GOOD).

What a super fun kit this is!!  It was perfect for these photos we took one day in December when we made a fun run to Starbucks to grab some yummy coffee and refreshers!!  My niece and my son's girlfriend LOVE Starbucks and luckily they just built one at the entrance to my neighborhood so we don't have as far to go if we want to make a Starbucks run anymore...not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing lol!  It certainly is not good for my pocketbook!!!  Make sure and head on over to The ScrapRoom blog to check out all the creative double page layouts the DT created with this months' kit!!!  Happy creating!!

Rewind Challenge at Sketch N Scrap!!

Happy Thursday!!  This year Sketch N Scrap is doing a fun new challenge on our Facebook page every month called the Rewind Challenge.  We are throwing it back a year or two and taking an older sketch and using it for a challenge!  Sound like fun?  I thought it was!  This month is our first challenge and DT member Jan has chosen this fun sketch from 2017 by sketch artist Heather Hall!

I have used this sketch multiple times!  It really inspires me as it is a bit outside of my normal style!!

Here is my layout using this sketch:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Simple Stories Bro & Co and My Mind's Eye (background); cardstock: Bazzill Black; Stickers: Simple Stories Bro & Co; foam word: Simple Stories Bro & Co; black pen: Le Pen.

I used up the last remnants of this collection that I got in a kit from The ScrapRoom.  I am trying to use up at least one older kit each month so that I don't have a huge stack of 1/2 used kits lying around!!  So far I am going good on controlling the kit stash!  I loved this line, the colors are amazing and so perfect for boys!  I still have a bunch of stickers left on the 12 x 12 sticker sheet included in the kit but have started storing those left over sticker sheets on my desk in plain site so I can easily see them and reach for them first when I need an embellishment!  Those 12 x 12 stickers sheet are a great value but SOOOO hard to use up!  This picture is of my nephew and his cousins' dog.  It is just too cute not to scrap don't you think?  I hope you will join in our Rewind Challenge at Sketch N Scrap!  You can find it HERE!  Happy creating!!

Sketch N Scrap #216

Happy Monday!!  Today I am excited to share a layout I created using the January 1st sketch at Sketch N Scrap!!  This sketch is super fun and was created by sketch artist Stacy, here is the sketch:

Here is my layout based on the sketch:
Supplies Used:  Cardstock: Bazzill Black; Background paper: grid-Scenic Route; Patterned Paper: Hip Kit Club Keeping Cozy & Crate Paper Snowflake; ephemera: Hip Kit Club So Frost & Keeping Cozy; clear stickers: Hip Kit Club: Keeping Cozy; enamel dots: American Crafts; numbers: American Crafts, chipboard: Hip Kit Club Keeping Cozy

This sketch was a bit intimidating for me as it is not my "normal" style, however, it is always fun to challenge yourself and do things out of your comfort zone so I definitely had a lot of fun using this sketch!!  New Year's Eve I celebrated alone so I didn't have any pictures but I was able to use these pictures of my sister and niece as they celebrated together!!  This is also my first layout using my Great Stash Bash kit for 2021!  I didn't use a lot of patterned paper but at least I dug into the kit this month!! To learn more about the Great Stash Bash challenge I am doing with my friend Lori go HERE.  Make sure and head on over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to check out all the amazing layouts the DT has created with this sketch!  Happy creating!!

TN Time with Lisa & Lori 2021

It's a New Year and I am still playing along in my traveler's notebook with my friend Lori aiming to provide you with a fun monthly Traveler's notebook challenge each and every month in 2021!!  So let's kick off the New Year with a new TN Time with Lisa & Lori challenge!!

HERE IS HOW OUR CHALLENGE WORKS: This is a monthly challenge that launches on the 10th of each month  You will have until the 9th at midnight CST to link up your entries. If you complete my sketch challenge link your TN, bullet journal or planner spread below. If you combined my challenge with Lori's challenge link up your spread here on my blog AND on Lori's Blog (My Happy Life). For 2021 we are making this challenge a "just for fun" challenge with no prize, but isn't the real prize just documenting your memories and getting more pages done in 2021???!!!!
Now for my challenge!! Here is this month's sketch:

Now for Lori's fun challenge: (January 10th-February 9th):

What an fun challenge!!  I love the color blue and have tons of washi tape so this challenge was super easy for me!
Here is my spread in my new 2021 TN- I used the sketch & Lori's challenge:
Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Bella Blvd Let's Go on an Adventure and Carta Bella Let's Travel; doily: Unknown source; Stickers: Echo Park Have Faith & Illustrated Faith She Blooms; Letter Stickers: American Craft Thickers (blue),Making Memories (black) & Jillibean Soup (numbers); journal card: unknown source; washi tape (pink plaid border): unknown

I stuck pretty close to the sketch as you can see, however, for my washi tape I placed it on a strip of white cardstock and then adhered it slightly under the red piece to make a washi tape border!  I just didn't like how the dots on the grid paper of the TN showed through the washi so I improvised and added it to the white cardstock...it actually was easier to get it straight this way too so I may use this technique (cheat) more often!!

Now for some close ups:
I tried to stamp my month and day but ended up smearing the ink!! ugghhh...so since this was the only journal card I had like this and I didn't want to chunk it I just printed the day/month on my computer and glued it over the mistake lol!  You can see for my blue elements of the challenge I used this beautiful blue floral paper by Bella Blvd Let's Go on an Adventure as well as a blue church and word strip sticker and blue letters!!
We had a prayer night last week at our church and I was active in planning it as I am a member of the prayer ministry team.  So far this is the only thing I have done in January with no plans to do anything else so it is my first "event" of the New Year!  And with all of the chaos that happened last week it was the perfect night for a prayer night!  This is the verse our pastor recited to us from 2 Chronicles at the start of the service and is one I want to keep in the forefront of my mind all year!

Now for the nitty gritty of how to play along:

Blessed Family Ties

Happy Saturday!  Today I am sharing another layout using the January Flavors of the Month kit at The ScrapRoom.  Here is a reminder of the full kit:

Here is the Simple Stories Vintage Ancestry mini kit I am using for today's layout:

Here is my layout using the Simple Stories Vintage Ancestry collection:
Supplies Used: cardstock: Kraft- from the kit & black- Stampin' Up Basic Black-from my stash; Patterned Paper: Simple Stories Vintage Ancestry- from the kit; ephemera: Simple Stories Vintage Ancestry- from the kit; foam stickers: Simple Stories Vintage Ancestry- from the kit; tag (manila): from my stash- source unknown.

I love how this layout turned out!  These are my great-grandparents on my Dad's Mom's side of the family.  This picture was taken of them in 1934.  It is one of the few pictures I have of them both, my great-grandfather died young well before I was born.  I do remember my great-grandmother as she lived well into her 90's but I was still young when she passed.  It is so great to have these older family photos and even better to have such an amazing collection to document them with!  I have a lot of journaling to do so I am going to place it on the back of the layout.  Make sure and head on over to The ScrapRoom blog to see the great layouts the DT created with this amazing kit!  Happy creating!

Card sketch #185 at Sketch N Scrap!

Happy Friday eve!  Today I am sharing a fun Valentine's Day card I created using the January 5th card sketch at Sketch N Scrap!
This amazing sketch is by sketch artist Stacy:

Here is the card I created using this awesome sketch:
Supplies Used: Card stock: Stampin' Up: Whisper White; Patterned Paper: We R Memory Keepers & PhotoPlay Be Mine (background); Stickers: Pebbles We Go Together

The fun thing about this card is that I used up a mish mash of scraps that I had in a drawer filed for Valentine's Day.  These are all older things and the papers are actually scraps that last year I almost tossed but decided to save.  I have never used these stickers because I never got any of the papers to go with them so I was excited to use them on this card and see they matched these scraps!  I am participating in a Valentine's Day card swap next month and decided to get a jump start on creating my cards!  I love the way this card turned out and I know I will be using it again real soon. I don't make a lot of slimline cards so it was super fun to do something different this time!!  Make sure and head over to the Sketch N Scrap blog and check out all the amazing cards the DT created with this fun sketch!  Happy creating!

Lisa & Lori's Great Stash Bash 2021 Kick off!!

Happy New Year!! 2021 is going to be a great year!!  I love fresh starts and new beginnings don't you???!!!  I am happy to announce that Lori and I will be continuing our Great Stash Bash into 2021!  I learned a few things during this year long challenge last year...mainly that I have TOOO much paper!!  My room is overflowing and while I made a slight dent in my stash last year I realized that this year I have to buckle down and get serious with using my stash and not buy more until I use up A LOT of stash!!  Are you with me?  I know many of you are in the same boat...so let's get the party started with the GREAT STASH BASH OF 2021!!!

For those who are new to the challenge here is how it works:
On the 1st of each month we will post a challenge prompt and the stash kit we have created using that prompt. During the month we will try to use as much of our stash kits as possible on different projects. Then, on the last day of the month, we will do a recap post showing what stash we were able to bash!
This will be a just-for-fun challenge so no monthly prize - but isn't the real prize using up our stash? You never know - if we still have a few unused stash items after a few months, then those items may just go into a giveaway. We hope you will join us in our quest to bash some stash in 2021. If you accept the challenge to play along - link up on either my blog or Lori's Blog (or both if you choose) so that we can see who is joining us each month!

Now for our January challenge:

Here are the rules for 2021:
This month we will create a kit with 10 papers (dig into your stash for new or old papers it's up to  you!), 5-7 scrap papers (let's keep those scrap piles under control!), 4 embellishments (new or old- you decide), and some EPHEMERA!!!

1. Follow the challenge prompt to create a kit to work with throughout the month. You may use other items, but please concentrate on using your kit.
2. Create new, not previously posted projects using your stash kit.
3. If you have a blog - please include the challenge graphic and a link to our challenge in your posts.
4. You may link to social media if you don't have a blog. If you share on Instagram, please make sure to use - #lisaandlorisgreatstashbash2021
Since this is a just for fun challenge the rules are not set in stone BUT we have them to help you focus on what really matters using your stash!  We also hope you will help spread the word of our fun challenge so others may join in!!  You know you have at least one friend who needs to use her stash!!
Here is my kit using the January prompts:

10 Patterned Papers:
Since I am determined to use up these papers I stuck to the 10 papers and didn't go over EVEN though it was hard to narrow it down to so few!!  My papers are from the following lines:  Hip Kit Club Keeping Cozy, Heidi Swapp Honey & Spice, Pretty Little Studio Frozen Sky, Simple Stories I Am, and Creative Imaginations.  As you can see I have a mix of old and new papers!  The Creative Imaginations paper (red notebook paper) is probably the oldest paper and I have been hoarding it for toooo long so hoping to use it on a project for sure!!
7 Scrap Papers:
These are all larger scraps I hope to use, they take up the most room of course in my scrap bin....I did a great job in 2020 keeping the scrap bin under control and so I am trying to keep that going in the New Year!  The green word paper is from CTMH, the black dot is from PhotoPlay Wild Honey, and the plain green paper is from PhotoPlay Cabin Fever.  The others don't have the branding strips on them (I really need to try and keep those on my papers!) so I am not sure what lines/manufacturers they are from!

5 embellishments:
I did pick 5 embellishments instead of 3-4, mostly because I don't know that alphas really count as embellishments lol!  The alphas, chipboard stickers and puffy words are all from the Hip Kit Club the Keeping Cozy line and the gems are from the Prima the Spring Farmhouse collection.

Stash Bash item: Ephemera:
I am sticking with a Winter theme for January as you can see! I love ephemera and it is probably my most hoarded embellishment in my stash, so this month's stash bash item is a good one for me!!  The ephemera packs I picked are from the Hip Kit Club Keeping Cozy and So Frosty lines!

I am super excited to dig into my fun kit this month!! I hope you will join Lori and myself as we endeavor to bash some stash this month!  Remember if you play along make sure and use the #lisaandlorisgreatstashbash2021.  I can't wait to see your kit!  Happy creating!!
