The artic chill continues!

Yes, the artic chill is still here in Texas! In fact, it looks like it is taking over the whole country! LOL! Good news, it is to be in the 50's (FINALLY) starting next week, more NORMAL weather for us here anyway. I am in a winter mode as shown by the scrapbooking I have been doing lately. I finally finished up my Jan. 2009 Personalscrapper kit and I was able to use the scraps to make some awesome cards too. The Valentine's Day cards are going to a card drive that Winter is having on her blog...there is still time to participate if you want to. It is a great cause, she is taking 200 cards to the kids at St Judes! Wish I could have time to do more really. The thanks yous are for a friend celebrating a birthday this month. I made it simple by sticking to one main layout for all my cards. The layout is one showing the snow we had on Christmas Eve...I thought about doing a white Christmas as a title, but liked these Fancy Pants papers too well so here we are. There is an online crop going on at Personalscrapper and I hope to complete a few of the challenges this week (there are TWENTY!) so I'm off to try and scrap a bit before I must go back to the grind on Monday morn! LOL! Happy Sunday all!

Snow Fun!

Here is another layout I was able to get done using my January Personalscrapper kit from 2009. The challenge that sparked this layout was to use a 5x7 or larger photo on your page. I don't scrap a lot of large photos, but knew this one would look great as a 5x7 plus it went with my snow theme. I didn't even use a sketch for this layout folks. By this time I was down to scraps and this was the only large scrap I had left so this was my only real option. This is my son from our October trip to Nebraska where we saw the first snow of 2009. The papers are Fancy Pants ARtic Chill, the letters are thickers, and the felt snowflakes are from Stampin Up. I really think these colors look great with my photo. One of my scrappy goals for 2010 is to finish up SIX of my past kits, so I am well on my way to completing one! LOL! Hoping to scrap a bit more tonight, too cold to do much else!

2009 a year in review

Here it is, my annual year in review! I am so glad this was a challenge over at Personalscrapper for the 12 days of Christmas crop, otherwise I may have waited until things weren't so fresh in my mind to make this layout. I used the January 2009 Personalscrapper kit for this page, in fact, I used the same kit for my 2008 year in review! I am working on using up this kit. I think I can eek out 3 more pages and then it will be done. I really enjoyed this kit featuring Fancy Pants' Artic Chill. When I saw it on the website I was not overjoyed with it as a kit..I worried I wouldn't like the colors..well...worry not, it has turned out to be one of my fav kits ever! In fact, for that very reason, I love my Personalscrapper kits, cuz they push me to use products I never would have bought on my own...plus everything is so perfectly coordinated you can't help but LOVE them! I am enjoying my Saturday to just crop today and so am off to work on another challenge! Enjoy your weekend folks!

Happy 2010!

Happy New Year friends! It was an awesome 2009 and I am looking forward to an even better 2010. So what are your goals for this new year? Here are a few of mine:
1) Finish up six of my older scrapbooking kits 2) 250 posts on my blog 3) Keep Family night every Wednesday and spend good quality time with my son 4)try a new recipe every month. I could go on and on but I better stick with these four or I will end up not keeping any of them! LOL! This is one of the collages I made today as a year in review of my favorite photos/memories from 2009. I have my year in review page almost finished and here are some highlights from my journaling: Best time: vacation in Florida last June Funniest moment: Jake's french fries getting stolen off our table by a seagull while at Kennedy Space Center Weirdest thing: LOADS of SNOW! We were in FOUR snowstorms this year, one in Nebraska and THREE in Texas...weird for us Texans! Proudest moment: watching Jake perform at his first band concert Tear jerker moment: Jake starting Middle School in August. Hottest Moment: giving Pappa a fire wallet for Father's Day. Other highlights from 2009: attending a Cowboys game at the New Stadium, building a racetrack and wheelbarrow at Home Depot classes, going to the Dive in Movies with our good friends Angie and Logan, attending FPU, Jake's twelfth birthday party at Laser Quest, having a White Christmas, and New Year's Eve Wii family night with our family. It might be a hard year to beat for fun times and good memories, but we are looking forward to making more memories and I am looking forward to preserving them. We are truly blessed in our family and wish for you and yours a healthy, happy prosperous New Year! Blessings friends!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas!

Can you believe that today it is actually SNOWING here in Texas????? Wow! This is the FIRST white Christmas we have seen since I have lived here! I am so excited and yet I am bummed about what I can wear tonight to church and yet keep warm! And just think it was 78 degrees yesterday! From summer to winter in 24 hours, wow! But even MORE exciting then the snow...my little baby boy turned 12 years old today! Happy Birthday Jakob! I can't believe he almost a TEENAGER! It was sure snowing on the day he was born 12 years ago, so we are in for a repeat performance this year as well. Here is a pic from his lunch with family today at Applebees, isn't he handsome? And here is one from the day he was born...a big difference huh? And to close, here are a few pics of our BIG snowstorm...I know those of you in other parts of the country don't think it looks like much, but for us it really is a big deal! LOL! I am off to wrap up a few of my last gifts, thank goodness I am done shopping and don't have to get out in this mess to finish up my shopping! Have a blessed Christmas Eve day everyone!

I'm Still alive

What is it about this time of year that has me running in circles? I just can't seem to keep up! I love this time of the year, but yet I find myself busier than ever and unfortunately scrapbooking has taken a back seat to all my other activities at the moment. I am hoping to do some creating this weekend though, as I have finished my shopping, the angel tree gifts are delivered and my DS's birthday party is over, so now all I have to do is finish my Christmas cards, wrap my gifts and sit back and enjoy! YEAH! Here is how I spent yesterday evening, at my son's first band concert. The kids were surprisingly good for a first concert and to think just 4 months ago they hadn't ever played an instrument! I was so proud of him! I am almost done with my Christmas cards so check back soon for a sneak peek. Happy Hump Day!
