Well Rounded ~ Cookin' Up Creations challenge!!

Good morning and TGIF!!  Today I am hosting my second challenge of the month at Cookin' Up Creations!  We are having fun all September long focusing on all things circular!!  For today's challenge called "WELL ROUNDED" I am challenging everyone to create a layout with some circular journaling!!  Here is what I came up with:

Supplies Used: Patterned Paper: Scenic Route (grid), CTMH (branding strip), Bo Bunny (background dot), Jen Hadfield Pebbles Hey Hello; cardstock: Basic Black & Whisper White Stampin' Up; stickers: Jen Hadfield Pebbles Hey Hello; Letter Stickers: American Crafts Thickers, Doodlebug Designs (square, word "tea" & circle letter stickers), black pen: Sakura black Pigma Micron pen.

I had a lot of fun creating this layout!  I have been wanting to do a favorites layout for awhile and so this challenge presented the perfect opportunity for me!  I was gifted this fun set of stickers and the 6 x 8 paper pad from the Pebbles Hey Hello line and so since I didn't have any 12 x 12 sheets this design was perfect as I didn't need any large pieces of paper for it except the background papers. The lovely color palette of this line was easy to match except for one of the pinks which is almost neon, so I didn't use that one!  I love the way adding outlining to the circles and banner with my black pen helped give added dimension to the layout!  This is fast becoming one of my favorite ways to "dress up" my layouts or cards!!  I hope you will join in the fun this month at Cookin' Up Creations!  This forum is the place to visit if you are short on inspiration!!  Have a wonderful weekend and happy creating!

Sketch N Scrap card sketch #173

Happy Monday!!  I had a very productive weekend and hope you did to, kind of sad it has to end!!  So today we have another amazing sketch up on the Sketch N Scrap blog!! This card sketch was designed by sketch artist Stacy!!  Here is her super fun sketch:

When I first saw this sketch I immediately thought of this large star from my stash that was SOOOO old!!!  It is from Scenic Route, so it has to be over 10 years old!!  When I finally located the star it was to big for the card, so I opted to cut off the outer part to make it small enough for a card.  I then added some old scraps of Scenic Route paper as well as some from a July 2018 ScrapRoom kit by PhotoPlay Paper.  The sticker is from PhotoPlay and the stamp is one I use a lot from CTMH.  This card allowed me to bash some really old stash so that put a smile on my face!!  Make sure and head on over to the Sketch N Scrap blog to check out what the other DT members did with this amazing sketch!  Happy creating! 

Sketch N Scrap #84

Can you believe it is July 1st already?  Wow, the summer is flying by I need to get better organized and get moving on my Summer bucket list!  The first of the month always means a new sketch at Sketch N Scrap, here is our first sketch of the month by yours truly:

I really dug into my stash for some of these things!! I bought like 200 sheets of this grid paper when Scenic Route went out of business, LOVE this paper my favorite background paper of ALL time but over the years I have used most of it, going to be so sad when it is all gone!!  I also used some REALLY old alphas, in fact they had lost their "stickiness" so I had to glue them down!! Love these pictures of my sweet nephew at the splash park!  I talked to him the other day on the phone and when we were ending the call I said "Goodbye sweetie" and he said "Goodbye Honey".  SOOO adorable that boy is!!!  Miss him so much!  I hope you will find time to join us at Sketch N Scrap this month, we love to see what our wonderfully creative readers are up to!!  You can check out the great eye candy our DT created and find out all the nitty gritty details of how to play along HERE! I want Candy!

I didn't get to spend Halloween with my youngest nephew this year, so I was on pins and needles waiting to see him in his costume.  So when my SIL sent me these adorable pics I had to scrap them right away!  Only problem....I had no Halloween themed product (or so I thought), then digging through my stash I uncovered this oldie but goodie line from Scenic Route called Salem.  I was so excited that the colors worked perfectly with my pictures!  I sure miss Scenic Route and I forgot how easy it is to use!  Anyone still have some in their stash?  If you do I hope I've inspired you to dig it out and use it!

I created this layout for the Personalscrapper 52 week challenge, week 42 which was Banners.  I think I am actually going to complete all 52 challenges this year!  Of course we have a like 7 more weeks left and I am down by 6 challenges, but I think I can complete 13 more layouts by the end of the year!  I hope to find some scrappy time this weekend, and we are celebrating my niece's birthday this weekend so I will have more great pics to scrap then too!   Have a great rest of the week friends and get scrappy!

Can you believe it is only 3 weeks until Thanksgiving?  I can't!  I have TONS to do to get ready for the holidays and can't believe they are almost here!  It's a new month and that means a new sketch at Sketch N Scrap!  Here is my layout using this fun sketch featuring a single 5x7 photo:

Come get your scrap on this week and play with us at Sketch n Scrap!  We'd love to see your take on this week's sketch.  Here is my take using a mix of patterned papers by Fancy Pants' Summer Soiree line and Scenic Route's Garden Grove line (I've almost used up all the Scenic Route stash I'v been hoarding!). My first published layout!

I was so excited to finally get one of my layouts published! My layout 100% Magic is being published in this month's edition of Scrapstreet Magazine! I have been a fan of Scrapstreet for awhile now, I love the wonderful articles they have each month, always trendy and current and with adorable and inpsiring layouts to boot! You can pick up a lot of good tips there as well, on all sorts of topics, my favorites include the technique articles and the one that focuses on journaling each month! This layout was created awhile back, it uses papers from Scenic Route's Cape Town line (loved that line and I sure miss Scenic Route). The chipboard letters and circle are also Scenic Route. This picture is of my son and my dad from Father's Day 2009, when we gave my dad a fire wallet for Father's Day! If you need a fun gag gift for an adult, this is a great gag gift! We picked it up at a magic show while in Universal Studios that year on vacation. This layout was based on a sketch by Julie Bonner when she was doing the 52 sketches 52 weeks blog (miss that as well, but luckily Julie is still sharing her sketches HERE on her blog!) Sketch Friday

I am so excited about my debut as a sketch designer for Practical Scrappers! I just love what all the talented designers have done with my sketch and can't wait to see what all the other talented artists out their in cyberspace do with it as well! For my layout based on the sketch I used some oldie but goodie Scenic Route papers and chipboard embellishments from the Liberty line. And for a little something new I combined the flag banners from the new Pink Paislee Starlight collection as part of my title. I really like the way this turned out. Patterned Paper Challenge!

For today's challenge over at Practical Scrappers, I used four strips of Scenic Route Cape Town patterned paper. I just love the masculine colors in this line! So fun and playful, perfect for a tween or teen boy! I just love this picture from last month of my son and his cousin at Joe's Crabshack were we went to celebrate my nephew's sixth birthday! Letters are Thickers Daydream font (again! LOL!) and I used my cuttlebut circle embossing folder to emboss my star. Super easy page, but these papers really draw the eye to the picture! Try it, it's a great way to use up scraps! Sketch 60

I know I am sure ready for summer! These pictures get me excited about taking the boys to the waterpark again real soon! It will be opening on Memorial Day weekend and I plan to head there for opening weekend, but I most likely will spend little time in the water as it will be too cool for me, but the kids will love it, the cold water doesn't seem to bother them! LOL! Since I take so many of my pictures in the vertical position, this sketch was perfect for me! I didn't even have to rotate it! LOL! I used my August Personalscrapper kit featuring Scenic Route Garden Grove with a scrap or two from the July kit featuring Fancy Pants Summer Soiree thrown in! The stickers are from Scenic Route Garden Grove and the letters are fabric Thickers! The chipboard flower border is by Making Memories, I got this border pack for a Christmas gift, and it has been a great gift, almost used it up! Sketch 98

Here is another one of the layouts I did for Personalscrapper's online crop last week. It is based on sketch 98 on the GOT SKETCH blog by Valerie Salmon. This sketch is super easy to work with and was able to make this layout in under 30 minutes! I have so many 5x7 pictures I need to scrap and this one was perfect for this sketch. The challenge I created this layout for was the "OLYMPIC" challenge where we were to use 5 or more circles on our layout. I used Scenic Route papers and chipboard..in fact I think this line (Grafton) is now 50% off now if you don't have it or want more! I love a sale but hate it that Scenic Route is closing. Sketchy Fun

Ok, seriously, drawing these sketches is addictive! I am constantly jotting them down, at work, at my son's basketball game, just about anyplace..I am going to have to start carrying a sketch book with me. Here is my latest sketch and my layout based on it. The papers are Scenic Route (Garden Grove and Surprise) and the letters are Thickers and Paper Trunk. These pics are of my son and his friend trying out the $2 pogo stick they found at a garage sale in our neighborhood. My son's friend bought it and they both played and played with it, which prompted my son to ask for one for Christmas. He did get one and is really getting very good at this (I see another layout). This sketch is very simple, but I love the contrast of the one large and two smaller photos...very eye catching. Give it a try, I am sure you can use it to create a layout in less than 30 minutes like me! Sketchy Thursdays!

Ok, I know it's not Thursday, but I based this layout off a sketch at Sketchy Thursday's website. I made this layout using Scenic Route's Garland line. I am SOOO sad to see them go, I loved all their products. This layout is of my nephew. One year for Christmas my son and I filled a box FULL of gum (I mean like $40+ of gum!) as one of his gifts. He loved it! I think he chewed the entire box well before Valentine's Day! LOL! If you haven't participated in any of the challenges at Sketchy Thursday's you need to, the sketches are super fun to work with! I am getting a bunch done for the Croptoberfest at Personalscrapper, and hope to post more in the next few days, so keep checkin' back...I should have more to share soon..gotta stop scrappin' for a moment and take some pics! Scenic Route goodness!

It's been a productive week for me, I was able to make another layout last night and get one half way started. This is one uses one of my favorite lines, Garden Grove by Scenic Route. I just love Scenic Route and wish they would have another new release soon. These papers and embellies were part of my AWESOME Personalscrapper August kit. This layout was created for the Listy List challenge for the online crop at Personalscrapper that ended yesterday. For it I had my son list his top 3 tunes that are on his MP3 player. This photo was taken at the Orlando Airport in June while we waited to board our plane home from vacation. Happy Happy Monday!

I can't believe it is already Monday again! I did a bunch of scrapping this weekend, but I only have one layout to show you....why you ask? Well, it is top secret my friends...now those of you who know me know that I stink at keeping a secret so if you call me up and twist my arm a bit I might let the cat out of the bag, but in the meanwhile, lets just say I will share it when the higher ups allow me to..how's that for spy talk?! This layout was inpsired by one of my fav bloggers, Wendi, I saw a layout she did that had these cute little surfboards all cut out and I decided I had to do it to...so this layout is a lift on her Ocean lover layout! I just love being inspired by little things like that. This page uses a journaling block from Fancy Pants' summer soiree line and papers and embellishments from Scenic Route's Grafton line (which is one sale at the Scenic Route store if you missed out on this great line!) This is my son on our June vacation this year in Cocoa Beach. He is just looking so grown up don't ya think? I still have a wee bit of this paper left and I am sure gonna miss it when its gone! Have you ever felt that way about paper????? I know strange huh? I have lots to do at work this week so doubt I will scrap much, plus, my son is hosting a sleepover with a few friends this weekend, so gotta prepare for that, but hey, it will give me scrappin' time while they are gaming it up! I am also preparing for an all day crop event I will be attending on August 22nd, I am super excited about this and hope by being organized I can actually get a lot done! LOL! Sketch #29

I FINALLY finished sketch #29 from the 52 sketches 52 weeks site this weekend, well over 24 hours before the deadline too! HA! Last week it was 3 minutes before the deadline! It's just a little game I play with myself, no real reason to impose the deadline except the prizes which are usually super fantastic! LOL! Now that's a good reason I would say. This layout shows my dad and son on Father's Day looking at the fire wallet my son gave my dad. We had a good time with it, it is really a funny prank! It makes a great gift for someone who has everything! I used some older Cape Town paper by Scenic Route for this layout, so that I could also use this layout for a challenge over at Personalscrapper to use up things that have been in your stash for over a year! Everything on this layout I have had for well over a year ( even the Scenic Route chipboard letters and embellies!) I love the way it turned it, Scenic Route is still one of my fav companies, just wish they would release more new stuff...I think I have everything they make now! LOL! Sketch #30 is now up over at the 52 sketches site and it is awesome, using FIVE pictures this time! WOW! Git 'R Done Wednesday with a sketch

This layout is based on sketch #8 from the 52 sketches/52 weeks website. I took a long time to complete this sketch and had thoughts of skipping it, because truth be known I really don't care for circles. Yes, I am a closet circle hater...no hate mail on this pleez :o) I don't know why I don't care for circles, I just don't. So the thought of a large circle on my page didn't appeal to me, but I had decided a while back I would complete all 52 sketches offered by this amazing site so I forged ahead and guess what? I like it!! It really is surprising if you are forced to work outside your comfort zone what happens. I do like the colors, plus the fact that I got 6 pictures on one page is nice. I used a really old piece of Making Memories paper for the circle and Scenic Route paper from the Metropolis line for the other papers and sticker. Letter stickers are by American Crafts and Making Memories. So now I am off to work on sketch #9 which is due by Sunday for their weekly prize give away, so better get to work on that...and guess what? It features circles too! So who knows before the week is done I may be a big fan of circles after all! I'll make sure and share as soon as I git r done!

Mojo Monday

Isn't this the sweetest picture? My sister took it on Valentine's Day of my niece and my son. I loved it so much I wanted to scrap it right away, and guess what it helped me get my mojo back and get the creative juices flowing, cuz right now I have like 3 layouts on my desk waiting to be finished and more ideas brewing in my brain! In fact, so many ideas, I had a hard time sleeping last night! I like how this turned out, I used paper from Scenic Route Loveland line, chipboard from the same and the journaling tag is from Making Memories. The letter stickers are from American Crafts. I got the inspiration for the title from my PS (personalscrapper) pal Amy who did a layout of the same title. But my favorite touch on this layout has to be the little chipboard bird, given to me by my good friend Angie while we were cropping on Saturday night, she got it in a set from JoAnn's and it is filled with cute little critters and that bird matched my colors perfectly and I really like him. I had a great time cropping with my friends on Saturday night and I was semi-productive, I got more done on Sunday and hope to do more tonight..I'm on a roll and don't want to stop! So keep checking back I will have a lot to share soon!

A Lifted Layout

Wow! What a hectic week! We have been SOO busy, but I did manage to squeeze in a layout this week somehow! This layout was part of the Personalscrapper after crop challenge. We were to lift a layout from the crop that was done by someone else. I decided to lift a layout from my secret sis Star. Her layouts are always amazing and this lift is of her layout called INKED. I picked this layout to lift because it was so "not" me...meaning, it made me really do things differently then I normally do, and sometimes that's what we need, to think outside the box, and do something different. I am super pleased with how it turned out. I even went further outside my box and traced my sticker letters with a black pen! I was challenged in this technique from my Got sketch 103 class this week, so I really was gettin' out of the old comfort zone this week! LOL! I am super excited about this weekend. I get to have some friends over to crop! YEA! So I should be back soon with the layouts I finish up at our little get together this weekend! Enjoy you weekend!

Warm sunny days part deux

Ok, finally here is page 2 of my double page layout entitled FRIENDS. You can see page one on my previous post here: http://createdbylisa.blogspot.com/2009/01/dreaming-of-warm-sunny-summer-days.html I was trying to fit these photos into a sketch where all 3 ran across the middle, but I didn't want to crop the photos that much, so I decided to go with the oldie but a goodie sketch shown here. I like how it turned out and it seems to flow well as a two pager. It shows the fun we had that day last summer at NRH2O with everyone hamming it up for the camera! Once again this is the Grafton line by Scenic Route. I have heard through various other blogs that Scenic Route has pulled out of CHA and is facing hard times like many companies in today's economy. It is my absolutely favorite scrapbook company and I am so hoping they do not close.
